"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"It went great. We were in good hands with the Ranieri family throughout the entire project. They are extremely reliable, diligent about keeping us informed about the process, and deeply knowledgeable about concrete deck installation and pool installation and care. Our 30+ year old 20x40 inground pool had crumbling old pavers around it and the pool plumbing needed replacing before we could put a deck in. The Ranieris were a one-stop-shop for this work. They replaced the plumbing, installed a new skimmer box, and poured a gorgeous curved edged 10' patio on one side and 4' deck around the rest of the pool. They are excellent communicators, keeping us informed all throughout the process and coordinated directly with our electrician to get the new ground wire installed and permitted before they poured. No hiccups at all with this process. This work happened this spring 2022, so there were supply and delivery issues with concrete that are outside of the contractor's control. From our perspective, the wait wasn't too bad, and the Ranieris kept us informed every step of the way. Their work is both art and science. We love what they built for us. We would hire the Ranieris for any future projects, and we highly recommend them."

"Very well. He is very thorough and knowledgeable about preparing surfaces for paint, also about the different materials and paint to be used. He has worked for me for over 20 years as a sub-contractor when I was a general contractor, on my personal homes and for a B&Bthat I owned and operated for 10 years."

"I have now had 4 pickups from this company. Each time it has been with different items: I have had my kitchen remodeled,  a deck torn down and rebuilt, a new roof put on, old fencing disc arded, and a yard cleanup. The only difference in pricing was for the roofing and even though ti was more money it was STILL CHEAPER than a dumpster!!! I don't know how these guys do it, but they pickup on time, without issue andfor the cost quoted. I have turned each of my contractors onto them - now they are using them. SO MUCH cheaper and better service than any dumpster company I have used!"

"It went fantastically well! Aging in Place Builders (AIP) were in my home for approximately four months and I was delighted to see them every day they arrived and missed their presence whenever they had other work to attend to. In the end, it was not only the quality of their work that impressed me, but the way they treated me as a customer throughout the process. I cannot say enough good things about AIP. From start to finish they were thoroughly professional. When they first visited me to take a look at the project I had in mind, I was immediately struck by how carefully they listened to me. They did not have pre-conceived notions of what I should do or try to steer me in a direction I didn't want to go. When I had an idea that they might have reservations about, they always would call my attention to considerations I hadn't thought about, which I very much appreciated. They never diminished any idea I might have, however cockeyed it might be. In several cases, they would go beyond what I imagined was the best way to do something to do it in a more finished way. For example, they installed wainscotting in a bathroom and the kitchen and created dados in the baseboard and chair rail to better hold the wainscotting, something that would never have occurred to me. When the painting sub-contractor arrived, he carefully filled all of the little openings between the wainscotting and the baseboard before painting, so there were no gaps when he was finished. In fact, another aspect of their work that I appreciate is that they hired sub-contractors who possessed the same high standards for quality and customer service that they do. I trusted AIP completely and without reservation to work in my home when I was not there. I gave them a key to my house so they could come and go as they needed, whether I was home or not. They were unfailingly neat and tidy, cleaning up impeccably at the end of each work day. They worked with as little disruption to the rest of my home as possible. They were cheerful and friendly and when more than one was working they seemed to work very well together. There was absolutely no bickering and even very little in the way of casual, personal chit-chat. They were all business. The only breaks they ever took were for lunch around mid-day. Otherwise, while they were at my home, they were always working. In addition, they always communicated with me about what was going on and what the next steps would be, using email, voice and text. They responded promptly to any inquiries I might have. Whenever they had a question about something, they would check with me before proceeding to ensure that they were doing it the way I wanted it done. They did not make decisions about such things without consulting with me first. I recommend AIP with great confidence and without qualification to anyone considering a home improvement project, no matter how big or small. I will hire them in a heart-beat, when I have another home improvement project. It's wonderful to know that in our valley we have a company with such high standards for their quality of workmanship and their development of strong personal relationships as Aging in Place."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Savoy, MA

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
