"People all around me suggestes no one else but Bakers. Tysean Lacks and Richard Riley completed a VERY thorough job digging in the front of my house and installing beams in the basement. Being that I was ignorant of the details, Mr. Lacks explained every detail while Mr. Riley carefully replaced objects of the yard. Believe me! They did a FANTASTIC job! I feel so much better now that my home is more stable. Thank you!"

"In January of this year, my wife and I decided we needed to transform our finished basement to an inhabitable living area. That would require adding a bathroom and an egress window for â emergency escapeâ . We hired a contractor for the bathroom and began the research on egress windows. As we were anxious to move ahead ASAP, I began contacting companies that installed egress windows. We had a couple of reps come out, look at our basement, discuss the process and quote prices. Estimates ranged from $8000 to $12000. Most had 2 things in common. 1} They could not schedule the job until somewhere in May or June as â windowsâ wouldnâ t be available until then. 2) Any â finishingâ work (necessary sheet rock and trim) would be extra as they did not do that. In March, I happened upon a copy of a regional advertising magazine (Clipper) which came in our mail. In it was an advertisement for â Basement Gurusâ . Since we still hadnâ t made a commitment for the work, I gave them a call. After discussing the job with them, I came to conclusion to go with â Basement Gurusâ . There were five reasons why I made this decision. 1) It appeared to me, based on reviews, the company had a good reputation. 2) The fact that they had windows in stock. This would move job completion date up significantly over what I had been told by at least three other companies. 3) The price. 4) Excavation would be done manually eliminating the possibility of damage to my neighborâ s lawn. 5) Sheetrock and finishing included. Our egress window project (install/follow up sheetrock/trim) was completed on time. Three workers came to our home for the install. They completed the window in three days. Very efficient, professional. Our township inspector came out a few days later and said â all looked goodâ . Also, John the sheetrock/trim person told me he had done a number of egress finishes. He said this one, as opposed to some heâ d seen, looked really good. The sheetrock and trim was completed in one day. An egress window is a big job. They make alterations to your homeâ s foundation! All in all, Basement Gurus did an awesome job! We now have a really nice â livableâ basement adding significant value to our home. Basement Gurus gets my full recommendation! "I emailed a request for a estimate for a foundation repair. I received a phone call to set up a appointment within minutes of sending the email. A gentleman named Tom came to my home to inspect the situation and give me a estimate for any work that was needed within two days of the phone call. He arrived promptly at the time we had agreed upon. After he inspected the situation he told me no work was necessary. I appreciated his honesty. I was very happy with the response from the company and i would use them again."

"Bob and his crew did an outstanding job on all three projects.  The first shed foundation required a lot of front end loading work with the township and Bob helped me navigate the process.   All of the jobs required significant travel for Bob and his crew, but they arrived early everyday and worked long into the evening.  Bob pays attention to the details and does not cut corners.  His rates are competitive and you definitely get what you pay for.  I highly recommend using Rock-A-Fellas for your next foundation or shed project. <br />"

"Expert House Movers brought a crew of 6-8 & came in late August 2013 to start the process of raising & moving the house.  My husband had done all the prep work of disconnecting the utilities & removing the furnace, etc. They dug access ramps to the old foundation/basement with bobcats.  They poked good sized holes around the foundation so they could put in steel beams and jack up the house.  Our foundation was from 1917 & built from old creek gravel cement, so it was pretty tough.  It took three & half days to jack the house & move it over the driveway.  It seemed really fast to me.  The only thing to fall in the house was a picture off the piano.  We still had access to the house through a tall ladder to get clothes, etc. that we needed. <br /> We took over the process of arranging excavation, concrete pouring, and carpenters with more local contractors.  Expert does have concrete people & others they use in the St Louis area that know exactly the requirements needed for the new foundation. <br /> After the basement was poured & cured (curing takes about 3-4 weeks), Expert returned in October 2013 to move & set the house.  They had been in contact with the concrete man for specifications, but there were no slots for the beams when setting the house down.  A concrete worker had to come & cut those slots.  We had a carpenter on hand to finish the sill installment & make sure the sills for the permanent beams was correct & set the support posts in the basement.  We also had a friend's tractor help Expert's bobcat pull the house back over the foundation.  While all this was going on, Expert was jacking and moving supports & placing slider beams & raising & lowering the house.  The process was complete in about 2 1/2 days with care & precision.  Some of the cracks in our house even disappeared.  Great job guys. <br /> Our carpenters returned to build a staircase & some other requirements.  We are working on re-connecting utilities & returning the furnace, water heater, etc. to the new basement.  We plan to move back into the house in the first week or so in November 2013.  It's been a long process, but well worth it.  Made possible by Expert House Movers! <br />"

"We had a contractor in to do floor leveling after pulling up carpet and <br /> tile to discover a large crack front-to-back through the entire house <br /> where the north end of the house had sunk by 3". I asked the contractor <br /> if he thought I should consult with a structural engineer. He gave me <br /> the name and number of Regan, Matonak, and Associates. I dealt directly <br /> with Dan Matonak who assessed the structure and original problem. He <br /> also walked around the entire house and found an additional problem! <br /> He saw that the brick was bowing about 3/4" inch at the back. The upper <br /> level of the house is open at ground level to the back yard, while the <br /> lower level opens at ground level to the front yard. In other words, the <br /> back of the house is in a hill. His assessment was that the bowing was <br /> caused by inward deflection of cinder block wall at about 30" below <br /> ground level, without even seeing the cinder block. He said "If you <br /> remove that wood paneling, I think you'll find cinder block and I think <br /> you'll also find a 1/8" or so horizontal crack going along the entire <br /> back wall". He was completely correct! He recommended several possible <br /> companies to do the repair of the block using different mechanisms. The least <br /> costly of these was using "The Reinforcer" which was installed by Steven E. Jaymes <br /> contracting company of Chambersburg, PA. The work was done in MD and they were done <br /> in a morning. The epoxy is very smelly, but the smell was dissipated in a few days. <br /> The great things about this solution compared to putting in steel pillars or trenching the outside and <br /> putting rebar into the existing blocks are: <br /> 1) less expensive. Since I removed all of the wood paneling and insulating myself, exposing the back wall, <br /> I saved a few thousand dollars. If I hadn't already planned on doing this to replace the insulation, it may have been more expensive than trenching out the back yard and putting rebar into the block, but not by much. That was a lot of labor <br /> 2) the carbon fiber strips are very thin and it is easy to put insulating and finish wall back up over them. I replaced the insulation with higher quality Dow Foamular and then put paneling back up and painted it. It looks a lot better than before and has better insulation category <br /> 3) they give a lifetime transferable warranty on the repair. These strips are so strong, they will never break <br /> 4) I get all the cracks sealed with epoxy, effectively water-proofing the back wall, even though that wasn't a major concern. There was dampness under the existing insulation, but it's nice and try now."

FAQs for concrete foundation repair projects in Saxton, PA

Visible cracks, water leaks, uneven floors, or walls that won’t line up are classic red flags. You might also notice sticking windows, doors that no longer latch, or exterior cracks crawling up brick or siding. Even a damp, musty basement can hint at trouble. If you spot any of these, call a foundation pro right away. Early inspections cost far less than waiting until the damage threatens your home’s stability.

Yes, foundation problems impact your home’s value. Buyers want proof that the foundation is stable, and a recent, professional repair can actually boost confidence in your home. You’ll need to disclose the work, but documentation showing the structure was properly stabilized, especially with piers in regions known for shifting soil, often reads as a plus, not a problem. Skipping repairs, on the other hand, can cut your sale price and shrink the pool of interested buyers. Taking care of the issue protects both value and peace of mind.

Foundations are engineered for exceptional longevity when constructed correctly and maintained diligently. Concrete slab foundations remain structurally sound for 200 years, while other foundation types deliver integrity between 75 and 100 years. Regular professional inspections and timely maintenance further secure a foundation’s lifespan and ensure your home stays safe over the long term.
