"Dan and his apprentice Andrew were extremely helpful and they went above and beyond my expectations. Dan cleaned the floor where the toilet leaked (which I did not expect him to clean) before installing the new toilet. They were quick and efficient and I was surprised to have the installation done on the same day as the inspection / consultation. I highly recommend these guys for your plumbing needs."

"They wanted $165 before even coming out. They bought the wrong style faucet so I was w/o running water overnight. I told the tech to disassemble the drain and take out the knife that fell in earlier. He couldn't find it. This year I noticed that the drain pipes were crooked so I had someone else come in to repair work that PPH did. They found the knife and did the drain pipes that PPH should have done correctly."

"Excellent! Matt did the work while we were away. Provided us with daily texts and pictures of progress. Very satisfied with finished product. So much so that we retained his services when remodeling a section of our downstairs. This project required removal of existing cabinetry, laying of ceramic tile, plumbing and installation of new lighting. All of which was done in a timely, professional manner. His services will definitely be utilized in future projects. Highly recommend as he is very reliable, affordable and truly cares about achieving customer satisfaction."

"The plumber was able to come the same day; he also asked to check the pipes in the basement. There is a large, old pipe which needs to be removed, and a former job which was poorly done that needs reworking. I am interested in getting this work done, and was told I would be provided with an estimate, but to date this has not been received (the only reason for my B rating in some areas)."

"I highly recommend Zimmerman for plumbing. They do an excellent job, are very professional, efficient and clean up afterwards. My dishwasher was rather complicated and they took the time to make sure it was hooked up correctly as indicated in the instruction manual. They care about their work and want to make sure you are happy. I also had them fix a broken pipe during another service call. They pinpointed the exact location of the break in the pipe (behind the drywall) and proceeded to cut as small a hole as possible to fix it."

"We had two issues: there was a hammering sound that was occurring when the water was turned on and our kitchen sink was dripping continuously.  He installed arrestors on the hot and cold for our washing machine to eliminate the hammering sound.  He was unable to fix the sink faucet, but drove all the way back to town to pick up a new faucet for us and then installed it.  We were very pleased with his work."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Scotts, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
