"A few years ago we did a simple remodel of two bathrooms in Menlo Park with FVR. By the time we finished the project we just wanted these folks out of the house. After a few years I felt it was necessary to share our negative experience and how poorly much of the work has held up. Specific issues; 1. Substandard workmanship: a. Heating vent under the house was left unconnected--I was heating our crawlspace and not the bathroom for 6 months. This went undetected until I went under the house for something else! b. Looking in my attic, the electrical work to hookup the bathroom fan is clearly not up to code--junction box is not closed and there are multiple exposed wire splices. c. Gang box for the newly installed light switch is clearly not level and out of square. 2. Numerous examples with low quality finish carpentry: a. Gouge on a newly installed sliding door from the aluminum frame--supposedly fixed then recurred. b. Spackle and paste used to patch the casing around the door frame where it contacts the bathroom tile--looks terrible c. A supposedly 'straight' wall that was rebuilt by FVR, clearly bulges with an obvious curve in the baseboard. d. Sloppy work on the plumbing cover plates for one toilet--half smeared with paint and not attached to the wall properly. 3. Low quality of painting: a. Two slightly different colors of white used in one bathroom with sloppy caulking around the trim. b. Numerous blotches of paint on hardwood floors around the hallway baseboard--the kind that would be easily have been avoided by using masking tape. 4. Sloppy personnel and poor cleanliness: a. Folks were working while we were on vacation, and we came home late in the evening to find construction debris scattered in our front yard including razor blades, paint on our front walk (where stains can still be seen). b. For a year afterwards we found trash (food wrappers & empty bottles) behind the bushes or buried in the shrubs. c. I saw workers 'free handing' a circular saw for trim and baseboard--where one guy would hold the boards and another would use the circular saw. For sure not a safe or effective option--just glad nobody was hurt at our house by these substandard practices. Nobody could be bothered to bring a jobsite saw. I will add that we pointed out most of these issues to the company reps while they were happening-- most responses 'Just an honest mistake' and/or 'We will send somebody over to fix that'. At a certain point you stop trusting anyone from the company and just want these 'less-than-competent' folks out of the house. The customer shouldn't have to check all these details--especially about heating/plumbing/electrical work. Would not ever trust this company again to touch our house."

"Very pushy Project Managers gave us the creeps. We felt threatened, that if we did the work w/out permits that they would report us. They kept on touting their great s/w for project tracking. So spooked with didn't want them in the house again. In fact, they brag about their military training that helps them manage projects . Perhaps that's how they strategically coerce people...my wife and I certainly felt threatened and wanted nothing further to do with them. Not surprised that Yelp has posted a notice of suspicious reviews."

"I contacted Blues Bro back in late 2020 and then we went over some things. In the mean time I contacted other agencies as well trying to see where I get the most value for my money, it was here. I locked in the contract, to the person getting work done please go back and forth and negotiate. I hired them so that I would not have to deal with contractors for my adu.. I was happy on my results and how my project turned out to be. I gave my own rough blueprints to Blues Bros which helped a lot. Project mgn was Sussan and cordinators changed but Renne was very, very helpful. Payments were done in installs of each step the project goes through.. they have an app it tells you when the payment will be done. I bought most of my own stuff, even though they have inventory inhouse. I would recommend to future client, negotiate, read the contract and be upfront with budget and leave a little buffer. Have communication with both contractors and Blues Bros. Be on top of things right away from the first second. Get the number of the contractors and there boss and ask for weekly of daily status of work. If something is off have chat with both Blues and Contractors right away. Everyone has the same end goal, which is to finish the job so stay on top of it."

"Tal was highly recommended by a friend of mine. He came to our house with a portfolio of all the beautiful remodeling jobs he had done. He sent a detailed proposal only a few days later. We had the first floor of our home remodeled which included: kitchen, living room, dining room, family room, and powder room. We had the fireplace totally redone with an electric insert installed. We had luxury vinyl flooring installed ,the popcorn ceiling removed ,recessed lighting, and walls painted. It all looks amazing I feel like I have a new house. Tal was wonderful. He helped us pick out the flooring and the quartz countertops to complement the white shaker cabinets I chose. Everyone that was involved in the remodeling were fantastic. The workers were all very professional and were there every day, except weekends) Tal came every day to check on the progress. He let me know what was going to be done that day and who was coming to do it. Tal always answered my text messages immediately when I had questions too. It took a total of about 7 weeks. They finished on my birthday! When it is time to remodel the 2nd floor we will definitely Choose Bay Builders . (I'm hoping next year) I have recommended them to several friends and neighbors. I LOVE the 1st floor of my home now!!!!!"

"Ken and his crew built me 2 beautiful bamboo decks. One large and one small. They also replaced all the plywood and siding on the back of my house. Our upper deck, which is the larger one has a water drainage system so we can have a living space underneath. The lower deck, which is the smaller one is flanked by concrete planter boxes and looks awesome! Despite last winters heavy storms, they got the job done quickly and efficiently."
