"We got a prelim quote via email for repair and replacement of some posts from our fence that were falling over. Later the estimator came out to look at the fence and added some other posts to the scope of the work because they were rotting, too. The repair was scheduled and done quickly and well. Happy the fence is all stable before the winter storms. Other fencing and handyman places we requested quotes from were either too busy to even give a quote (but were nice about it, telling me up front that they were 6-8 weeks booked already), or charging about the same price for less total posts to be fixed. The one problem we had was communication. I had to be forward about calling the estimator to get the estimate scheduled and emailed back. Once the repair was scheduled, however, things moved quickly and smoothly."

"From the initial visit for a quote to replace my old, dilapidated fence, to the completion of the project, Brian and his team were always complete professionals. Their workmanship is top notch and they don't consider the project complete until the customer is completely satisfied. Seven months after the fence was complete, a few of the posts warpped badly, causing my gate to lean. Brian sent a couple guys from his team to fix the issue. I know I can always rely on Milam Fencing LLC for any fence related projects and highly reccommend them."

"SG&A's owner (Mike) bid the work.  We ended up selecting his firm primarily due to their experience and design capability (they were able to "show" us what the gate design would look like with a simulated "picture" prior to any work being performed).  SG&A fabricated the gate based upon the agreed design.  We also had Mike orchestrate all the rural King County permits, cable/power line markings, electrical contractors, and trench digging (for electrical conduit supply) to the electrical supply junction.  Duke and David were his primary employees and appeared to be diligent in their work. <br> <br>The completed gate was installed late April (about a 3 month process) and is working well.  They include a one year maintenance plan and will be out in six months for a service call to ensure all parts, components, and operational aspects are in strong working order. <br> <br>While SG&A was the most expensive bid, I definitely believe we got a high quality gate that will last for many years.  We strongly recommend SG&A for your security gate needs."

"This is an update for my 1 star review: New owners came out and fixed the issues I had, and improved some warped boards. Very pleased with the new owners, and I recommend. ---- original review below Decent price, and fence looks good. The guy doing the install had a problem installing the gate post, and moved it closer, making the gate narrower than agreed upon. The very next morning I mentioned it was supposed to be wider, and that was very important to me. Guy lost his temper and started arguing with me, and rebuffed my questions about the agreed spec. He then lied to his boss about it being that way for some time (I brought it up the next morning.). In response, they offered me $150 off the build, which I viewed as an insult. I let it go, because I was afraid an angry worker would do a bad job. A few days in, one of the two screws on the gate latch broke from being overly tight. At that point I contacted our sales guy, told him the story and his response was "I'll talk to him when he gets back from vacation and get back to you" or something like that. I had to contact him a second time to get the fence latch fixed. Someone came out and did so, but now you have to be careful to get the fence closed properly. He never got back to me. I did tell angry vacation man that I would never had gotten this fence if they were going to make the gate narrower. I stand by that. I'd avoid these guys."

"Final product <br /> The main reason Altered Earth isn't getting a D is the final product.  It's gorgeous.  The carpenters who did the product made practical recommendations about how to implement the design that resulted in a product that exceeded our expectations. <br /> The other reason they aren't given a fail is that the owner ate the cost of addressing some site issues that his project estimator missed.  The owner did this to ensure that the final fence was going to be sturdy and fit the site.  Once he realized that the project was going sideways he did his best to remedy it.  Kudos for that. <br /> Communication <br /> Communication with the business owner was incredibly stressful.  He over-shared his stress and personal circumstances, and he brought a very highly charged intensity to every communication.  This made the overall project very very stressful for us to the point where my spouse and I were fighting about whether to kill the project rather than continue. The communication was so bad that I will deal with some gate issues we are having by paying someone else to come fix it rather than have to deal with the business owner again. <br /> Timeliness <br /> There were timing issues from start to finish.  The lag time in getting the bid should have been a red flag, but we were sold on the quality that was promised so I overrode my better judgement.   <br /> The fence took over 6 weeks to finish due to delays at  every stage.  Workers would say they were going to show up and then wouldn't.  The owner said things would happen and they didn't.  Many times the workday consisted of 11 - 3.  So our entire front yard was a job site for the majority of the summer. <br /> Work site/process <br /> The staining took over our garage for over a month.  The cutting and staging of the wood took over the entire front yard.  Bags of garbage were left after the work was completed.  At one point we had a fire when some stain-soaked rags caught fire.  Need I say more? <br /> Would I recommend Altered Earth <br /> If you want a beautiful product and are willing to suffer to get it, then by all means choose this provider. <br /> <br />"

"The service person was timely and quickly diagnosed the problem. We ended up needing a new garage door opener. We scheduled a 2nd visit for the garage door opener to be installed. The technician arrived promptly again, installed the garage door opener and made sure I knew how it worked. I have always had such good service from this company."

"Jerrod the owner of Archstone was emphatic to point out that he is one of the best if not the best and a very conscientious and honest man. He said the mortar on exterior house wall is very hard and can't be ground out. Per his expert advise the best things is pressure wash and scrape out loose and damaged mortar and use sponging technique to fill in cavities with type S mortar. I understood and agreed asking for care with pressure washer. Quote was $2922 before tax. He said the wall wouldn't look much better than it does now but he would get all the places having egregious deterioration and then seal. Two days work. Moving forward his team (him and a 18 year old nephew) came and went in less than 4 hours. Sealant remained to be done and I could see that cost was itemized at $400. I personally could do it in 1/2 hour so I asked him to scratch it from the price. He was very amenable to that. The issue arose when I was sealing I found and sent him photos of spots with severe erosion that were missed and should take about 1 hour to fix. Some on wall, one in bottom corner of house, one big seam in windowsill. I sent email and photos asking for him to return. He didn't reply. 1 week later I reached him by phone and he said he didn't get the email/or hadn't read it yet but he wasn't going to come back for 'pinholes' which I could do myself. First of all I could do everything myself but that's time that I paid him for. He is too busy to come. Photos are from the south wall as discussed."
