"Finally, a plumbing company that is 100% honest, very responsive and charges a very fair price! My main line was totally clogged with roots. Dirty water was backing up in my tub and my toilet would not flush. I hired a different contractor that came out, charged a hefty fee only to penetrate a small hole in the clog (to drain the water) and run a camera through the line. I was told that they would have to use a high pressure water jet to clear the line and that would not be available to do the work until 4 days later. They quoted me an outrageous price! I then called JD Plumbing and got to talk to the owner (James himself) and Danny S., a plumber, to get a second opinion. They told me that the water jet is not necessary to clear the line and in fact there was significant risk that my bathroom could be flooded by high velocity water backing up and overflowing my toilet. Danny came out sharply at 8:00 AM the next day and cleared the line in about an hour. I ended up paying less than one third of total cost had I followed through with the first company that came out. I was very impressed that the owner would take the time to talk with me and be so truthful. Danny was awesome! A very professional, hard working and supper friendly guy. A stressful experience with a very good ending thanks to JD Plumbing."

"Started with my bathroom toilet that would not drain.  I was unsuccessful so call experts,.  they ended up putting a scope and found that my iron pluming was flaking and needed jet blasting to restore to clean.  they asked about our main line.  We usually have trouble every year or so do to a large tree that has roots going into the main line.  They scoped the main line to the street and found a big root in our pipe that took up most of the pipe.  A couple of loads of wash and it would have backed up.  solution was to dig down 7 feet by our sidewalk were the root was and replace the pipe.  When they got down there the replaced the pipe and scoped to the street and found some more roots and it was clay back to out clean out  which was about 15 feet from the first hole.  They could sleeve to the street but we have a weak link in the clay to the clean out.  So we opted to do a non trench, replace the clay, sleeve the to the street and jet the house.

"The professionals at Drain City Plumbing were extremely responsive to my late night call inquiring if they could send a technician to my rental property on Sunday. Tony assured me that his technician, Jay, would be onsite at 10:00 Sunday morning to fix my external gas line leak (Southern Cal Gas has red tagged the meter the previous day leaving my tenants without hot water or a stove). Jay from Drain City quickly pressurized the line and discovered the leak. He was able to remove the patio pavers, excavate around the pipe, replace the section of pipe and put everything back together by 2:00. I was very appreciative at the urgency Drain City displayed to get the gas back on at my rental property and would recommend, and use, Drain City for future plumbing needs. "Original pipe slope is minimal so build up and back up has been an issue and it’s very time consuming to clear. Jenri was here on time and immediately went to work. He was exceptionally polite and despite the nature of plumbing kept work space very clean. Clean and put everything back when he was done. VERY HAPPY WITH WORK AND EXTREMELY GRATEFUL!"

"We had a badly clogged drain that kept backing up and it was turning into a real headache. The plumbing company we called showed up on time, explained everything clearly, and got right to work. They used professional equipment to fully clear the line and made sure everything was flowing perfectly before they left. What really stood out was how thorough and respectful they were — no rushing, no upselling, just honest work done right. They even cleaned up after themselves, which is rare these days. If you need a drain cleared or any plumbing work done, I highly recommend them. We’ll definitely be using them again!"

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Seal Beach, CA

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
