"I called Band C Plumbing to the house yesterday to figure out the cause of a water leak that was causing water to drip into our house's electrical breaker box. They called shortly after they opened to tell me they would be here between 10 and 11AM. My wife and I took our kids to swimming lessons and when we got back at 10:05 the Band C guys were there waiting on us - very prompt service! <br /> The two Band C plumbers looked over the problem and began trying to source the leak which included cutting some dry wall out of the garage wall above the breaker box. <br /> It turned out that the water drip was not coming from a broken HVAC condensation drain as we all originally thought, but rather caused by a convergence of some unfortunate events. First, the HVAC unit was freezing up and then releasing a lot of water/condensation (which we later found out was caused by low refrigerant, some dirty coils, a partially clogged drain, and some gaps in the duct seals leading into/out of the air handling unit). Second, a wiring sheath that houses the main power lines from the breaker box to the HVAC was just low enough to capture some of the excess condensation/water pooling and channel it not only onto our garage ceiling, but more distressingly directly into our breaker box. <br /> The Band C guys made a temporary fix by moving the wiring sheath above the level where water could enter it and recommended we get an HVAC person, electrician, and drywall person out in that sequence to finish taking care of the whole problem. <br /> Band C charged us $95 which is their basic service call fee, which I thought was entirely reasonable given that they cut the drywall, sourced the water leak, and implemented a fix even though they couldn't do much on the ultimate root cause - HVAC not working properly. <br /> This was the second time we've used Band C. The first was last year when they replaced a shower faucet that was worn out and causing a continuous drip of water into our shower. We were also happy with their work on that even though it cost us about $175 that time."
