"Home Systems Appliance Repair did an excellent repair on my 18 year old panel-ready 42 inch Built-In counter depth GE Profile Refrigerator. The original GE tech who looked at the leak in the freezer evaporator a year ago, told me the refrigerator was non repairable because the "vacuum pump" retrofit part it needed was no longer available. After paying his $200 visit fee for a 2 minute consultation, he offered me a discount on a new GE refrigerator to fit which had not been built yet. Fast forward to now, GE does have 42 inch built-in counter depth Monogram side-by-side for $12,000 and $2,000 of Kraftmaid panels. Home Systems Appliance Repair cost me $400 to identify and fix a broken heat transfer tab in the freezer evaporator unit. I saved $15,000 - - not bad for paying Appliance Repair for a 2 hour job. We were one of the unlucky ones to have some water in our finished and unfinished sections of the basement after the big rains of September.  AHS was one of six or seven companies we called, and one of three that gave an estimate.  Originally, they made an estimate to remediate the basement areas that were affected by mildew and mold, as did one other company.  The price appeared reasonable given the scope of work. 

A week or two later as I was moving some items in the basement, I noticed a crack in the basement corner and suspicious mold.  I called Walt at AHS and he agreed to come out and look at it to make another estimate (which he did).  To our surprise, the estimate was no different.I mentioned another company gave an estimate on the work.  That company provided as more detailed estimate for a larger scope of work.  I presented this to Walt and AHS was able to match that scope of work for a slightly lower price than the second company.

We selected AHS not because of price, but because of Angie's List recommendations and because the company president would be on site.During the work, which went very well, Kurt was present for the entire job.  He, Walt, and two other men set up containment, removed affected materials and did a thorough cleanup.  During the removal, Kurt noticed some flickering lights in the basement.  He checked some wires and told us that that some of our circuits were improperly wired.  That will be a job for another (near future) day.  But for now, we were impressed from start to finish with AHS.  We would recommend them to anyone needing remediation and, were we to buy another house, would seek Kurt out as our home inspector."
