"Radon Consultants gave a very competitive bid for the work, so we hired them. The work was done as promised, when promised, and with excellent results. They took an incremental approach, which would have saved money. Our problem was about 70% solved by that approach. By adding additional capability to our radon mitigation sysrem, the remainder of the ptoblem was taken care of at a very reasonable price. Their total price was about the same as a competitorâ s price for the first phase."

"I have used Dayton's Pest Control for a number of years so I have numerous changes of seasons to use in comparison and have never been disappointed. I do pay for the yearly treatment up front so they keep me on schedule by calling me to setup the next treatment before bugs appear, as opposed to me calling for individual treatments when I see bugs in the house. It amazes me that once I started using Dayton's the bugs in my house dropped to almost none. If I find a bug in the house I feel it either flew in through an open door, came through a screen on an open window, or jumped on my dogs outside and took a ride into the house. But finding a bug in my house is very rare and has been this way for the years I have been using Dayton's because the bugs rarely get past the opening of my garage. Each treatment is pricey when you compare it to doing it yourself but the chemical you buy at a local home store won't be as effective since it is being sold to the consumer. Dayton's sprays inside and outside so if I did the treatments myself I would need to buy 2 gallons for each treatment and treat more often since the consumer chemical is less potent. I highly recommend Dayton's Pest Control."

"Jason was fantastic and very professional in his dealings. He was on time and provided the final report the same day as inspection. Not only was he very helpful explaining the report upfront but he was also available later when I had follow up questions. He did a great job and I have full confidence in his inspection."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Tommy and his associate Mike spent 2.5 hours carefully inspecting the house. Above price was for inspection and radon testing. <br /> They were thorough, professional, and open to any questions we had. I highly recommend shadowing them during inspection to better understand the problems they find. Given their background in real estate (Tommy) and contractor (Mike), we were able to get valuable opinions on the house and how to approach the problems they found. Tommy suggested that we give his contact information to anyone who wanted to discuss his findings.    <br /> He e-mailed a detailed report the same night. It was clear and easy to understand. He recommended remedy for each problem. <br /> One of the problem he suspected was leak from jacuzzi that was detected by high drywall humidity below the tub. Seller and their plumber denied the presence of leak. After the seller agreed to create an access panel, we asked Tommy to demonstrate the leak that was indeed present! We also asked him to do re-inspection after seller fixed all the issues. <br /> He sent me a follow-up e-mail one month after our move inquiring if we had any questions or issues. <br /> I would highly recommend First Choice Home Inspection. <br />"

"Because of weather problems Lora and crew were here two weeks early. Scot and his helper cleaned out the trash in the crawl space and prepared to put down the vapor barrier. They did this job a bit out of order because of the COLD weather. The morning they started it was 16* ! Their first task was the vapor barrier. After that the spray foam insulation. Then the old insulation was removed and hauled away. Lora did the job in this order because of the COLD weather. She told me she would NOT leave us with no insulation for any amount of time with temperatures this cold. Lora cares about her customer and works very close with them . She even let me work with them a little bit. I'm an old retired Marine and still like to be involved. I don't think I got in the way too often. Her prices are very reasonable; there is no reason for negotiation. I'll definitely be calling Lora at Green River for any other needs around my home. Thank you Lora & Scot Howard, the Troll"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Sevierville, TN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
