"As usual, Alan showed up as scheduled and did a thorough walk-around to detail the work that needed to be done. Candi had the contract done the next morning and the carpenters showed up two days later as promised. Bucky and Max worked a full day and did a great job. They not only fixed the superficial rotted wood, but went down to the support structure and made repairs. They used good quality materials and were very happy to explain to me how they were making the repairs. The porches are on a Victorian Style house and they were able to make the repairs while maintaining the decorative style. Bucky's skill and workmanship really came through on the work done on the front porch. Max really did a great job replacing the shakes and fascia boards on the back porch. He also did a nice job replacing the outside door to the basement. This was a professional and quality job through and through."

The workers protected floors and cleaned daily. We were updated for the most part daily. Derek personally was on site often often. "For starters, John replied to my messages within an hour throughout our interactions, and there were quite a few more than normal due to my mistake. He was so responsive that I got to checking for a reply within 10 minutes of sending it and there it was! Some of the other 4-5 handymen I reached out to replied after a day and some didn’t at all. Anyway he came the first time and we screwed up so he had wasted his time for this visit as we gave a wrong phone number and didn’t hear the doorbell. John was completely understanding and we re-scheduled for the next day! He took care of the job without any problem and was actually pleasant to have over as our guest during the time! "Our house is over 100 years old and has a stone foundation. On the uphill side of the house, water would come through the wall and run across the floor. Having worked with David Friedlander before on other work I called him up. He suggested digging out to the footings and waterproofing the outside of the foundation. When we dug out, we found that the outside of the foundation was loose and unmortared--sealing wouldn't work well. He suggested building a form around the foundation and pouring a new concrete wall around the existing foundation. It worked amazingly well. The basement is dry as a bone, and the foundation should be good for another hundred years at least! His crew is professional and hard-working. They worked through a snowstorm, and took great care of our place. Best of all, David and the rest of the business are easy to communicate with, clear on expectations and needs, transparent on costs, are able to be scheduled quickly, and work fast. They're great!"

"We thought it would be a challenge to repair and maintain a weekend house from a distance, and working with Ken started out well with him on top of our repairs and in constant communication with us. While Ken did many jobs well, there were other jobs that we left unfinished, or were not done up to the same standard.  He did communicate well at the beginning of our working relationship together, but after the last round of work, did not tell us that our lighting was installed improperly, that our custom closet door did not close as it should, and most importantly, that he failed to protect our newly refinished floors and trim work.  They were damaged with dents, paint spills, and drywall. When we spoke with him about our concern about his work, and Ken was willing to come back and repair the damage and work that we were unhappy with. We chose not to have him come back due to time already lost on the job.  
Ken is a friendly and personable man, and we do hope that we can reconcile this matter and perhaps work with him on smaller jobs in the future."
