"Terrific. Rich had the motion detector installed 18mo ago, and recently it stopped working. Called Rich to fix, and he arrived on time as planned, took it apart, and saw one of the connections was loose (root of the problem). He fixed and didn't charge us a thing, even though it was well over a year since he had it installed. What service! We'll continue to use Rich for all our electrical and lighting needs."

"After meeting with a number of other contractors for our project, we decided to hire MD Construction. We hired MD Construction to replace the failing retaining wall in our driveway as well as installing steps to a paved pathway that leads to our yard. We met with Miguel (the owner of the MD Construction) and he is very knowledgeable with the process and materials involved. They gave us a great price and provided us with a copy of their insurance and NJ contractor’s license. When they started the work, we had very bad rainstorms the entire week, which made their job even harder. However, they were diligent and professional throughout the process and completed the project on time and within budget. The wall looks great and is an appealing improvement to the home. We will be using them again to replace our patio in our backyard."

"Fast prompt service. I would recommend Bill Taylor to anyone who needed this type of work. He did a great job installing the TV above the fireplace and when he was done, cleaned up the entire area. You can use me as a recommendation any time you want to."

"Installer arrived 2 hours late with no call or acknowledging that he was late when he arrived.  Other than that, the installation was performed neatly and was satisfactory.  He ran cables for 2 flat screen TVs through the walls which have been an eye sore for a while.  He also installed a new switch that needed to be replaced on a transfer switch connected to the main breaker panel in the basement.  There was a slight extra charge since the total install time went over the 2 hours included in the deal, but it was fair since it was most likely to make up for being late to start the job.  We are happy with the work, just hope they improve on their punctuality and communication if they will be late.

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Sharon Hill, PA

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
