"The only model thermostat they offered was high priced ( $350 plus installation or $453 total), High tech, WiFi link to smartphone, programmable. I told him I wanted a simpler model and was told the only other option was more complicated and more expensive and that "this is how thermostats are now". I told him I was upset, but had no other options. I now know this was 'extortion' , since other simpler models are still available and would have been better suited to this senior citizen. A furnace cleaning the same month prompted a list of things I should buy despite the furnace passing it's tests.....be prepared for a sales pitch. They did come promptly and were polite. I will not hire them again."

"I have used Doc's Plumbing more than once because Mike is very knowledgeable and a talented plumber (believe me, they are NOT all the same!). I'm always impressed at how precise and clean his work is.....you can tell he's got a lot of pride in his craft. Mike is also quite handy beyond plumbing and is capable of renovations as well. I always enjoy dealing with Mike at Doc's Plumbing because he always has a pleasant disposition, and most importantly he is fair with pricing. If you want a real professional plumber, call up Doc's and you won't regret it."

"A few problems that were not the fault of the tech. My home is built a bit differently so he had some obstacles to overcome. Wonderful attitude. Great sense of humor. He worked tirelessly to finish the project. I have used this company before for other things including a complete bath remodel and would recommend them any time."

"We started slowly, checking out various designers and remodelers starting in February. We reviewed several websites and visited numerous stores getting prices and narrowing our options. We came close to working with one designer who had some good ideas, but he couldn't quite get on board with our budget. I coordinated all the and quot;team membersand quot; and since they knew each other, it worked out really well. There was one slight delay that was my fault (I dropped the ball on communication) but Mike went with it without missing a beat. We appreciated the fact that he did the demo so carefully. He knew we wanted to donate what could be used again and he took the time that was needed to get that done. Mike worked very and quot;cleanand quot; and was always on time. He even came back on July 3 to put on some finishing touches because we had visitors for the holiday. As mentioned, Mike was newly recommended to us and we're glad we found him. He worked with us on our selections; giving us good information on brands, pricing, quality etc. and we are VERY happy with the results! NOTE: The total for the entire project was about $10,000. This included all parties involved and materials as well as carpet for the adjoining master bedrooms that was installed after the bath was completed. <br />"

"As stated above(in the wrong place)  we have  used the services of B&J Plumbing several times for big and small jobs, but each one was important for the comfort of my family. <br /> Brian was always on time and knew exactly what to do to fix the problem.  I never had to wait, days, for service nor reschedule. <br /> I hope I don't have any more problems but when I do I know who to call to fix the problem. <br /> <br />"

"1.  Work started May 18th and ended mid-July.  Original end date was mid-June, but had numerous delays mostly due to the Tile company. <br /> 2.  I would definitely use Hockers Plumbing again.  But, just like with everything, you need to be involved throughout the entire process and verify everything so there are no surprises.  Every project will have problems and it is much cheaper (and quicker to fix) the sooner you find them. <br /> 3.  They helped with design and had good ideas and work-arounds to make things fit as good as possible. <br /> 4.  The office staff was a big help too. <br /> 5.  I used their recommended carpenter who did a very good job. <br /> 6.  They got very quickly an Electrician on the spot to keep the project moving (C & C electric).  They had to come back a few more times, and they were very resonably priced (would definitely use them again too). <br /> 7.  There was one major "oops" with the plumbing.  They mounted my new shower panel too low and I didn't catch it until after they had left for that day.  They did not put it as high as what was agreed to (and was written down on the instruction manual).  I could have double checked the Plumber's measurements for the mounting brackets, relation to the shower panel, and overall height, but didn't.  This error caused at least 2 weeks delay, mainly due to Tile company didn't have any tile leftover from the tile shower job and had to reorder more. <br /> ***** Make sure you get at least a couple pieces of every type of tile you have installed...just in case***** <br /> 8.  Be prepared to cleanup everyday, as the Plumber didn't cleanup as much as the other workers would have liked (Tile guy, Granite company, etc.). <br /> After all was finally done, it ended up very nice.  The Master Bath was a huge improvement, a complete gutting and remodeling.  Replaced fiberglass shower with a customer tile shower.  Got rid of the old style drop-in huge whirlpool tub with a modern free standing soaking tub, new toilet, new granite counter top, new mirrors and vanity lights.  New tile floor.  All new fixtures, double shower, waterfall heads, led light up faucets, awesome. <br /> Kitchen, replaced the tile backsplash, installed granite countertops, new electric matching outlets, new stainless sink, and new touchless big faucet. <br /> 2nd bath...installed tile countertop, copper vessel sink, copper faucet, replaced mirror and new vanity lights. <br /> Would have rated quality and overall higher if did not originally install shower panel at wrong height as this delayed the finish by 2 weeks. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Appleton, WI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
