"We hired RetroGreen to install foamed-in-place insulation in our house, which was built in 1960, with only 2" of wall insulation. For most houses, which have horizontal siding, installation is fairly simple. Our house has vertical board and batten siding, which makes the project more difficult. The installer can't simply remove a couple of courses of siding, do the work, and replace the siding. One approach for board and batten siding is to drill holes through the boards and insert plugs after installing the insulation. No matter how carefully this is done, I suspect the result would be visually unacceptable, with rows of obvious plugs around the house. Instead, I asked them to drill holes only behind the battens. I removed all of the battens, first marking the sides, RetroGreen skillfully drilled their holes within the lines, so when I replaced the battens, all of the holes were concealed. In one small area, that didn't work, so they provided plugs that closely matched the siding boards. Chris was quite helpful throughout the process, discussing options and making suggestions. The team was professional and efficient, providing protection and cleaning up on completion. The result is excellent; there is no visual evidence of the installation."

The foam applicator explained the technical aspects of the requirements for it's application, as well as making it very cosmetically appealing and consisent. "Started well and I scheduled them well ahead of time although I had to demand the date I wanted; they were scheduling according to the order the deposits came in.  A few days before the date the owner called to say it would be split into two days, blown blanket, then the following day the foam application.  Not major, but annoying.  My time is worth something and given the lead time in scheduling this seems questionable at best.  The blown blanket guys were all right but failed to do a couple minor things I think they should have.  I'm not an expert on this and I expect the professionals will do a professional job.  When the foam team arrived the following day I pointed out the missing items to them and they did take care of it.  I had to put a 50% deposit down and offered the remainder to the foam team as they left.  They said I'd get a bill in the mail.  And now wonder; the bill was 11% higher than the written proposal.  The owner - who does the proposals - missed an overhang along a 16' wall which increased the foam cost.  I have no objection to the cost, but I do feel blindsided by the way it was presented.  The foam team could have warned me and failing that the owner or someone from the firm could have called to advise me about it - and apologize for missing it, perhaps.  Based on this experience I'd prefer to do business with a more professional outfit.
