"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"LG refrigerator was no longer cooling. I went through LG customer service who opened a ticket with Nebraska Home Appliance. They were very courteous and professional from appointment scheduling, notification prior to the repair as well as the repair work itself. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again for other appliance repairs."

"I had a question about microwave repair. He answered all my questions and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately new parts are no longer available for model in question. He gave me part # if I wanted to call around for a used part somewhere. Got lots of good info."

"This is the second time Dan has come out to our house for a repair - the first was for our refrigerator and this time was for our clothes dryer.  Both times, the service has been excellent.  We live out in the country and there was no extra trip charge, plus, he works on WEEKENDS for NO EXTRA CHARGE!!!!  He seems to have a very detailed knowledge of appliances and is very willing to give his honest opinion on what we should do (buy new vs. repair the old).  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! <br />"

"Greg came to the house today the morning after we called him. (Both our clothes washer and our refrigerator had problems.) He was on time and diagnosed the problems on both the fridge and the clothes washer within 15 minutes; had the parts with him; and had them both fixed within an hour. Total bill -- $197.00, of which about $90.00 was for parts and $65.00 was for the service call for both appliances so he only charged $30.00 for his labor, and the rest was tax.. Sears wanted to send a separate technician for each appliance -- i.e., two service calls, and their trip charge was $75.00 for each, and I also think they wanted to charge for mileage one way. A fellow from Des Moines wanted $75.00 to look at the first appliance, plus $25.00 for the second, plus a $15.00 mileage charge; and the other appliance repairman in Ames wanted $65.00 for a trip charge, plus $30.00 for the second appliance plus mileage outside the boundary of Ames.I would use Greg's Appliance Service again in a heartbeat. Great Service, great price. I have already recommended him to my friends in Ames, Iowa, where Greg's Appliance Service is located."

"I wish I had used these people earlier. I ordered a part for my dryer and was able through their instructional video to fix it myself. Let me tell you I am "mechanically challenged" in just about every way. LOL I may have cut myself through my own stupidity but I did it. it was easy and I did not have to pay a repair man for a simple fix. Thank you so much!"

"They first came out to diagnose why my electric dryer would not start. They were able to get my dryer running, but explained what else was not functioning properly with the dryer. They gave me an option to have the dryer fixed with additional parts, or take my chances and see how long the dryer would continue to run as is. They also gave me prices on what a new replacement would cost. I chose to have the dryer fixed with limited parts based on the cost to fix vs. brand new prices.  They came out later in the week to repair. There were two service calls associated with the second repair - one to fix and one to clean the dryer vents. My repairs could have been avoided IF I maintained a regular dryer vent cleaning. Lesson learned - clean the dryer vents behind the dryer AND to the outside vent. I would use this company again. The two repairmen were punctual and very nice to work with."

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Slater, IA

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
