"We noticed that our yard was getting pretty squishy on the side of the house where the septic tank / sump tank is located, so we looked around on Angie's List and found Thigpen's Septic Tank Svc, called 'em up on a Sunday or Monday I believe, and they said they'd have someone out first thing Tuesday morning.
Sure enough, Tuesday morning they called us and said they'd be at the house in 30 mins.  Probably about 20 mins later they arrived.
They didn't even have to drive into the yard like we thought they would have to; they had enough hose to run from the truck in the driveway all the way over to the sump tank... pumped it out pretty fast, and they began to inspect the sump pump and the wiring.
Before long, Jerry I believe it was, had assessed that the wiring had gotten wet due to a previous installation not being wired inside of a weather-proof box, and this in turn caused the pump to burn out.
They had a new sump pump on hand with them and promptly replaced the old one, also advising me on how it needed to be wired up properly.  Also gave me the warranty paperwork on the pump (1 yr warranty).
Everything was completed and wrapped up within about an hour.  Very professional, friendly, great quality of work, punctual, all the good stuff.
At first I was taken aback by the cost since I'd never incurred a sump tank / pump problem before.  When Jerry gave me the invoice of $959 I was thinking, wow, that's quite a bit more than I expected - I was thinking the total would've been more around $600-ish.
BUT, later I got to looking online and comparing prices, and it looks like they're right in the competitive ballpark.  On average people get this kind of work done for anywhere from $900 to $1200 (or more if the hole needs to be dug for a tank, etc).
The pump-out job was $300, and the pump installation / replacement was $659.
In the future I'll probably do it myself since you can buy a pump for $150-300 depending on what kind you need... save myself some bucks.  HOWEVER, if you've never done this, seen it done, or would rather just have a professional handle it, I definitely recommend Thigpen's!

"The service provider was great. While he was professional, he was also friendly and approachable. I don't have a traditional septic system, I have a water treatment system with multiple tanks--which I did not know and the service provider explained. During the previous month I had had extremely high electrical bills and was concerned that the system was operating 24/7 causing part of the high bills. He inspected the system, particularly the aerator was operating properly and explained that even if the system ran all the time, the aerator draws about the same amount of power as a 40W light bulb, which could not be the cause of the hundreds of dollars in electric bills. Once that issue was addressed, he then moved on to checking the level of the tank, telling me there was no need to pump it at the time but perhaps a year or so from now. He then explained how the two tank system worked, and that it would be a good idea to add chlorine tablets through the maintenance access. He laughed when I said I had never been told this and said that most persons with this type of system are not aware, but that when the first tank drains into the second tank of the system, the chlorine purifies the water even further than the initial purification process. At my request so that I did not dig in an area where the system was located, he identified the location of the tanks and the lines for the system. All in all, he addressed my initial concerns with the system, then went even further and stayed until all my questions were answered, even those that were not part of the maintenance checkup he performed.
One additional item--time of arrival. Most service providers can only provide a window of when they will arrive, which makes sense as they often run into things with their service calls that are more involved and take longer than expected. In this case, ABC let me know when the service person would arrive and he actually arrived within the window they said he would, without me having to call and check and say, "Ok, where is he?" This was a nice change."

Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. "We bought a new dishwasher and had paid to have it installed by the store we bought it from. When they delivered it the guy said they couldn't install it because we didn't have some cut off valve. I didn't know what he was talking about since we currently had a working dishwasher and had no problem with it. Anyway he wouldn't install it without the cut off valve. "AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
