Small jobs welcome

"We had our chimney resurfaced with a more durable ;bird proof EIFS synthetic stucco. Fernandez stucco did a great job and the chimney looks like new. Juan was easy to work with, kept us up to date and was always responsive to questions. The crew worked hard and seemed to be a nice group of guys. Would definitely recommend Fernandez stucco to anyone needing stucco work."

"I have employed the services of Abel at Plaster Solutions multiple times over the last 4 years. He has helped me with projects both large and small. His most relevant work includes a kitchen and bath remodel, repairing exterior stucco and replacing damaged drywall. I highly recommend Abel's services. I really wish he was still in Greensboro!"

"They were able to fix the leak, as well as reseal around the chimney, exhaust pipes, etc. - all at a reasonable cost especially considering I don't climb on roofs!
The only two points that were odd.  One was trying to schedule a time - it was very confusing and he wasn't exactly on time (I think).  The other was his trying to up-sell me on products and services I didn't need.  He was not pushy or obnoxious, but I could tell he was looking at problems that are really non-issues and could have been expensive (such as suggesting a whole new roof so water would drain off better).
Overall, quick, professional and reasonably priced.

"AMAZING JOB!! Showed up on time everyday ready to work. Very respectful of being in someone's home and very careful. They spent almost an entire day putting up plastic and prepping the walls and areas that would be painted. Very time consuming but as a result I didn't have paint where it wasn't supposed to be. They did an excellent job taking down wallpaper that had been up for over 20 years and did not damage the walls. I was most thrilled with my oak cabinets in the kitchen. I had been warned not to try to paint them but Rafael (owner) and I researched different techniques which they implemented and the cabinets look fantastic. I feel like I have a new house. Rafael was easily accessible by text, phone, e-mail and very responsive. He stopped by almost every day to make sure I was pleased. I would definitely recommend Hi-Lite Paints for interior or exterior work."

"Dusty, the owner, was always professional and called me a few times before the day to ensure we were all in synch. When he and his co-worker arrived, they cleaned up some of their hardware to ensure it was clean going into my house. They put a few necessary tools on a drop cloth in my hallway and got straight to work. One painted the bathroom and the other painted my bedroom. They were quiet and professional the whole time, including shaking my hand during the introduction. I was away that afternoon at a football game when they finished. Dusty called me to let me know he was leaving, the work was complete, and they would need to come back to do a few touchups with some trim paint. When they pulled off the trim tape, some of the trim paint came off (it's an old house). The colors were an EXACT match to what I selected. I gave it a thorough look-over and they did a VERY quality job. I'm am more than happy with their work and to recommend them."

FAQs for traditional stucco repair or partially replace projects in Smithfield, NC

Minor stucco fixes—like sealing small cracks or adding fresh caulk—often wrap up in an hour or two. Larger jobs that call for cutting out damaged sections, installing new lath, and layering fresh stucco can stretch to three or four days because each coat needs time to cure. A pro removes loose material, cleans and dampens the area, applies a bonding agent, and builds up new layers, matching texture and restoring the wall’s weather shield.

Watch for a stucco surface that stays damp days after a storm, develops dark stains, or feels soft or spongy under light pressure. Inside, moisture rings, peeling paint, or soft drywall around windows point to the same issue. Any of these red flags mean water is trapped behind the siding, and it’s time to call a stucco pro before rot or mold sets in.

Give your stucco a once-over every spring and fall. Semiannual checks let you catch hairline cracks, stains, or damp spots before they snowball into pricey repairs. Keep a flashlight handy, look closely around windows and doors, and call a pro if you notice anything soft or discolored. Staying ahead of minor issues protects both your curb appeal and your home’s weather barrier.

A pro starts by scraping away loose material, then cleans and lightly wets the area so new stucco will stick. After brushing on a bonding agent, they build fresh layers, letting each coat cure before adding the next. The final step is matching the texture and color so the patch blends in and the wall regains full weather protection.

Think of repair as a patch: the pro fixes only the visible crack or hole. Remediation goes deeper—crews strip away the compromised stucco, correct the root problem (often water or mold), then rebuild the wall. If tests show structural rot or trapped moisture, remediation is the safer, longer-lasting route; otherwise, a straightforward repair often does the trick.
