"We used Luminous Electric to upgrade our 100 amp panel to 200. Shane communicated quickly & efficiently, mostly over text. His quote was competitive and there was no pressured upselling. He was also able to accommodate our timeline. On the day of install, he brought a helper to minimize the amount of time our busy household was without power. Looking forward to working with him again."

The problem with most "pros"? Too many bad habits.\nIt's easy to get swept away in the day to day monotony, even for those that call themselves "pros". When it comes to hiring a heating and cooling technician, nobody wants to deal with being treated like a sale rather than a person, the use of scare tactics instead of education, or someone who just wants to get to job done quickly instead of correctly. \nAll our HVAC pros go through 5 years of HVAC schooling, for a total of 10,000 hours of on-the-job training. And it's not just technical training either; it's training that focuses on you, on making you feel comfortable every step of the way. We will roll out the red carpet for you, both figuratively and literally.\nRed Carpet Treatment\nDuring every visit to a home, we lay out an actual red carpet to prevent any additional mess. But what may be even more important than just protecting your home is making sure you feel like you've received the best in customer service.

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired Anthony to perform a *laundry room addition* to our house. We live in an older home and wanted to take out a 2nd floor extra storage space that we were not using and convert it into a laundry room. The price was fair but the service and work were well above average. They go above and beyond and get the job done quickly without cutting corners and fixing previous DIY improvement disasters. I could not recommend Anthony and the company more. Look no further, because this is your guy."

"They contacted me as I was about to hire someone. He had a lot better price than the guy I was about to hire the other man told me he would have to move a lot of people around to do the job. C R Electric told me he had no problem coming the next day. They did a very good job. They installed my electric from weather head to electric panel(including) inside. Very professional Would call again"

"Hiring a contractor is not anything anyone really wants to do. Sean is a breath of fresh air. I submitted what I needed done. He called. No pushy sales calls or gimmicks. He listened and was 100% open and honest about when he was able to do the work. Okay, so roll forward to the work day. Wowww! He did an amazing job of replacing my circuit breaker panel. His attention to detail is amazing. I wish I could keep him in a glass case with a sign that says "break in case of emergency", but I think he should be shared with the world. Thank you Sean!"

"I inherited a home in Scottdale,PA. The home is over 100 years old. Jay was very easy to work with. He upgraded all the electrical outlets so they were up to code, added a new service line for the electrical on the exterior of the home, removed our old fuse box, upgraded to a breaker system, added smoke alarms and a new attic fan. I highly recommend him. In fact, Jay did some work in our home in Greensburg after this. Fixing a circuit breaker in our basement, installing a pagoda lamp outside and placing lights in a built in cabinet for displaying crystal. He did a great job."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Smithton, PA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
