"Unfortunatley, our 3 year old was found to have elevated levels of lead in her blood. We were contacted by the Health Department an order to abate. We contacted Homeguard, we had heard good things about them from my cousin that used then for asbestos abatement work. My cousin told me that they were easy to work with and very patient. She said they were very nice people. This was true for both the office staff and the techicians who were at my home for about 8 days. The cost, compared to other estiimates, was reasonable. The project was completed as promised. We were very happy because this could have been a nightmare."

"I picked this company based on the reviews on Angie's List and also on the fact that they do Sunday inspections.  The company was very professional from the outset and the woman I spoke to on the phone was very friendly.  They emailed me confirmation of our appointment and items included in the service.  I called a couple days later to add a few water tests.  George arrived on time and did a very thorough job - four hours.  He was kind and informative, and I felt immediate relief after the first 5 minutes of our encounter with him.  I could tell that he knew exactly what he was doing.  The inspection lasted from 10 am to 2:30 pm or so and I received the report by email by noon the next day.  Radon air test report was emailed to me prior to the inspection.  Water test results were emailed to me the day after the inspection.  I appreciated that the company arranged to perform these tests in advance of the inspection as the results take several days to return, and I had a tight window until contract.  I would highly recommend this company. <br />"

"John was extremely punctual and kept to his word when the job would be finished. He kept a constant line of communication with me about what he was doing and even educated me a bit when I asked him certain questions about the project. He was extremely efficient on getting the job done and has a inherit keen eye for detail. His quality of work was exceptional and I would highly recommend him for any tiling job. <br />"

"America One Abatement was a great help in responding in a timely manner. They were thorough in looking into an area of question about asbestos, and tested for same. After finding some mold, they came out and removed the mold in the proper way.  They were always responsive, and supplied necessary documentation."

"They came over and tested the property for lead and did a great job with reporting back to the New York City Health and Building Department. My violation was lifted and this company did a great job with making sure the paperwork was filed correctly. I really appreciate their efforts and help. When we submitted the paperwork to the health and building department they supplied more information to them. They had to go to the building again and they did not charge me for the extra visit."

"Jonathan was a trustworthy professional, who helped manage the restoration of my 2 story home. He even negotiated more insurance coverage when it was discovered that we didn't get enough money to cover some of the cost. He always answered messages promptly and his employees did a great job with the finish work. I am very pleased and would hire Beacon Home Pros again."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in South-britain, CT

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
