"Our house got hit by last years hail storm, we met with a few contractors, we went with Excel based on the initial visit and a referral from a friend. Chris got the job scheduled quickly, replaced the roof and came back a week later to fix the siding issues. Everything went smooth and the work was great."

"I will call this “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly review” as I am breaking this review into the 3 teams that we had – 2 very good and done quickly and 1 inferior with the most time spent at our house – thus the overall 3 star grade. The Good • Roofing Team – Grade: A. Efficient, good job, found virtually no nails or roofing materials on the ground • Gutters – Grade: A. One man crew but he knew what he was doing and provided good suggestions for modifying our water flow. The Bad • Siding & Window Team – Grade: C to D. Not sure how they were trained but they didn’t seem to understand some common construction basics. A few of the many examples – o They nailed the siding on wrong and had to start over. o They almost ripped the 120V electrical outlet off the house without turning off the breaker but it was the weekend and we happened to be in the garden and saw them. o Installed the dryer vent wrong twice – once painting it shut and the next time putting on a vent with a label on it saying “not for use with clothes dryers” due to the pre-installed screen. The Ugly • Siding & Window Team – Used caulk as touch up paint on LP Smartside (or just used the siding to clean off their dirty fingers?) – leaving random “chicken pox marks” all over new siding. Garage, driveway and all 4 sides of our house were filled with equipment and garbage for the length of the project. Not the crew to have if you have children or pets – they left old saw blades and other sharp objects around the garage entrance and the house. I didn’t expect a spotless home every night but I didn’t expect to be living with this much disarray with minimal clean up each night, even after asking the supervisor to improve pickup of at least garbage and sharp objects in the garage and the common walking paths. Nor did we expect to be spending our fall cleaning caulk off the “maintenance free” siding and re-painting it and installing our outside boxes correctly. I will give the owner credit for realizing that his siding and window crew did inferior work and giving us a discount on our bill. None-the-less, I am rating the services provided based on the quality of the work done."

"If I could give 6 stars I would. I have been extremely impressed and pleased with the courtesy and professionalism of River Valley Remodelers. They called me up when my window arrived and installed it the next day! They are very sociable also, my girlfriend was home alone when they did the project and she told she really liked them and had good conversation with them. I booked them for another gig after completing the first one! Rain sleet AND snow and these guys showed up and completed the second project on time!"

"Very thorough job!! Made sure we were happy with work!! Walked us through project when completed. Even when damage was caused they came and fixed it with no complaints. All good!! I think its made a big difference on heating and staying cooler on hot days like recently!!! Very happy with gutters that were also installed. Worth the cost as it means less issues in future. Even more surprisingly, both Shane and Anthony did additional prep-work on our house for the window installers, which you don’t see these days. Within a week our house looked amazing and we’ve received countless compliments from neighbors and passer-byers on how great our house looks. Throughout the entire process, Shane clearly communicated delivery dates, install dates and walked us through what to expect on the day/s crews would be working at our house. "Roofing was fine, but when I called because of a leak 3 months after the warentee period, I was told the rate per roofer was $185 for the first hour and $98 per hour after that. No flexibility or willingness to work with me at all. The leak was not new just newly discovered. Does not matter. Legally they may be right but this attitude is not what customer service I want to have in my life. They will not get additional work from me."
