"The initial contact was good and the price was fair. So they started the work and replaced the flat roof which went well. Then when they started on the chimney they found they would need to remove some of the roof to access everything which would be some additional cost. I agreed to this and they started the work but then there were delays and communication issues for over 2 months. "These guys are awesome! They came out, inspected the roof, gave us a quote and once we gave them the green light they were there to start the work the next day. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the work they did and their prices were more reasonable than the competition who also wanted us to wait an entire month to come out and start the work. "THE GOOD   The interview went very well. I had a list of questions as to how the work would be performed and Mike answered the questions with confidence in every part of the job. After talking to him I felt comfortable believing the job would be done correctly.  We talked about materials and agreed on a price that was comparable to other bids. I told him I was not in a hurry. A different contractor said it would be 6 weeks so I guess in my mind I thought work would start in about that time frame. To be fair, Mike never gave me a start date.  This all happened in the middle of May.
 THE BAD   It took a week before we picked shingle brand and color and I paid an $8000 payment. 2 large pallets of materials arrived in the first week of June. The next communication with Mike was the last week of June with him saying the weather had slowed him down.The next contact was the middle of July. Mike said it would be a little longer. I contacted him again at the end of August and he said he was heading my way soon. I contacted him middle of Sept. and was told 2 weeks weather permitting. After 2 weeks Mike texted me saying it would be longer.  I replied with concerns about the material being on pallets in my yard for 4 months and gave him 3 weeks to start work or refund my payment minus material costs. He replied he had the permit and would start work the first week of Oct. Dumpster arrived on a Monday 8 days later. Some wood was dropped off on Friday. Work started the next Friday.
 MORE GOOD   Once the crew was here they did a great job. They protected my and the neighbors house during tear off and cleaned up every day. After tear off we discovered the addition roof tie in needed to be corrected which was outside the original bid. Mike rebuilt that and it looks and functions great. He did a lot of extras like disposing of some junk I had and putting some bolts in the front porch for a swing. He also partially roofed the playhouse to match the house(untill he ran out of shingles).I was very happy with the work.
MORE BAD  A week later I requested a paid in full invoice for taxes and the playhouse roof to be finished and Mike said he would take care of it.
It's been 7 weeks and still no invoice or finished roof on the playhouse.
FINAL WORD   If you want a quality job and have no time pressure then I recommend Mike. This was a 2 1/2 story hip roof and was not an easy job and took over 7 days to complete. That may have figured in to to delay. All in all it's been a roller coaster ride. He probably would have gotten here sooner if his Angies list A rating (and rightfully so in most cases) wouldn't have increased his business so much.

"This company came highly recommended to me by someone who has had work done in the past. While I was impressed at how quickly I received an estimate after calling, I found it very impersonal that they didn't call me back or touch base at all before putting together an estimate, as I wanted to ask a few specific questions that pertained to our project (for example, we have some rotted dormer shingles that I was curious if they would be able to replace as part of the project). The estimate that I received was very generic - a pre-printed sheet stating a list of materials and services that were included in the cost, and a dollar amount. The estimate was not itemized, or even separated into sub-categories of materials and labor. I don't know if they got on my roof to take any measurements (if they did, they never received explicit permission), or if they simply eyeballed it from the ground and took a guess.
We had a total of three estimates performed, and the price they quoted was very competitive with one of the others (the third was much higher). Ultimately though, I just didn't get the impression that my business was very important to them, and when stacked next to a competitor quoting a comparable dollar amount, they lost out this time to a company that I felt was excited and eager to work with me.
