"I first met Jeff Moore of Capital Siding, Windows and Roofing in 2018.  It was time to reroof my 110+ year-old house (that has more hips and angles than a fashion show) and I wanted to do it right.  I took 5 bids (6 if you count the company that was a no-show) and ended up with a range of bids that varied by nearly $20,000.   Capital came in near the midpoint of the bids but it wasn't the price that sold me - it was the care they put into their bid and the feeling I got from Jeff and, later, his son Danny.  They included more detail than any of the other companies I considered and I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Jeff over the course of a couple of weeks where he answered all of my questions and explained all of my options.  Jeff struck me right from the start as an earnest, straight-up guy who was giving me his best offer.  No posturing, no pressure, just a good offer and a good feeling. Undertaking a major project on my house, my biggest asset, was stressful.  I was worried about everything.  Is this a fair price?  Is this the right company?  Will the crew stay on schedule?  Will they damage the property with their equipment?  Do I have any idea what I am doing?  Ultimately, you have to make a decision and for me, that's usually going with a gut feeling.  My gut said Capital so I signed the contract. Once work got underway, Azael, Jeff's primary crew chief, was on site every day.  He's a great guy, easy to talk to, always with a smile and a laugh.  The crew did their work, cleaned up every day, and kept the materials organized.  Couldn't ask for more.  Jeff and Danny came out several times during the project and we spoke by phone regularly.  Calls were usually returned the same day and always by the next day.  Changes (like my decision to add gutter covers) were handled clearly and easily and there were no financial surprises at all.  They did an excellent job. If I could do it again, would I choose Capital?  Wellllll...yes.  In fact, I did!   In August of 2023, while I was out of town with my family, our house got walloped by the big hail storm that rolled through Minneapolis.  By the time we got home a week later, work had already started on 4 houses on my block.   My first call was to Capital and they came out a day later.  My beautiful roof and old siding had taken major damage.  Danny and one of the roofing crew walked every inch of my roof and took over 100 pictures.  The damage was significant but the integrity of the roof was intact.  Because of the severity of the storm, Jeff was booked until very late in the season so we decided to push it until the spring of 2024.  That turned out to be a good decision as I spent a good portion of the winter arguing with my insurance company.  Every time they sent an adjuster or someone to take pictures or get a materials sample, one of Jeff's team was present.  I finally got things sorted out with insurance, spring arrived, and Oscar, Capital's other crew chief who is just as approachable and friendly and great as Azael, came out with his guys and got going.  They did another beautiful job on the roof and the siding is just fantastic.  They did tons of hand-bent aluminum work to mimic the architectural detail my insurance wouldn't cover.  I think it looks better than it did originally.  My wife and I are completely happy with the work and love with the way our house looks now. Total satisfaction with two excellent jobs six years apart is no fluke. Capital is as solid as they come and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. - They were the third contractor to look at the leak I had into my house.  The other two contractors were not able to identify the problem.  Lakewoods Remodeling did.
- They identified that the leak was due to the sliding and not the roof.  However, there was a concern that removing and reattaching the 25 year old sliding would be difficult.  The siding was no longer available and I didn't want to pay for all new siding.  Lakewoods Remodeling did a detailed analysis on my situation and guaranteed that they could remove the old siding, make the repair, and reattach the old siding.
- They successfully completed the repair and did such a good job that myself and my wife had no idea that the work had been completed while we were at work.  It looked just like before and there was no evidence that they had been there.

"I will call this “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly review” as I am breaking this review into the 3 teams that we had – 2 very good and done quickly and 1 inferior with the most time spent at our house – thus the overall 3 star grade. The Good • Roofing Team – Grade: A. Efficient, good job, found virtually no nails or roofing materials on the ground • Gutters – Grade: A. One man crew but he knew what he was doing and provided good suggestions for modifying our water flow. The Bad • Siding & Window Team – Grade: C to D. Not sure how they were trained but they didn’t seem to understand some common construction basics. A few of the many examples – o They nailed the siding on wrong and had to start over. o They almost ripped the 120V electrical outlet off the house without turning off the breaker but it was the weekend and we happened to be in the garden and saw them. o Installed the dryer vent wrong twice – once painting it shut and the next time putting on a vent with a label on it saying “not for use with clothes dryers” due to the pre-installed screen. The Ugly • Siding & Window Team – Used caulk as touch up paint on LP Smartside (or just used the siding to clean off their dirty fingers?) – leaving random “chicken pox marks” all over new siding. Garage, driveway and all 4 sides of our house were filled with equipment and garbage for the length of the project. Not the crew to have if you have children or pets – they left old saw blades and other sharp objects around the garage entrance and the house. I didn’t expect a spotless home every night but I didn’t expect to be living with this much disarray with minimal clean up each night, even after asking the supervisor to improve pickup of at least garbage and sharp objects in the garage and the common walking paths. Nor did we expect to be spending our fall cleaning caulk off the “maintenance free” siding and re-painting it and installing our outside boxes correctly. I will give the owner credit for realizing that his siding and window crew did inferior work and giving us a discount on our bill. None-the-less, I am rating the services provided based on the quality of the work done."

The gutter crew did not meet promised dates, damaged an expensive downspout and I am still waiting for the replacement one month later. The painters were so far behind that one month after completing the siding, the trim is still not done."
