"Randy F. and Hung L. did a superb job replacing my old original bathtub with a new modern walk in shower. The quality of the materials, fixtures, and the professional craftsmanship in installing them, exceeded my expectations. I will certainly recommend West Shore Home to family and friends."

"We have used Don and his crew for 4 Projects in our house now. He has remodeled our Kitchen, Bathroom, Replaced all our windows, and opened up a wall on our main floor and then redid the floor. Each job was done to the highest quality, Don was on site everyday, and checked in with us as things came up or any decision needed to be made. We have 2 more projects to do and he will be getting both of those jobs in the coming years."

"I will start by saying that every single person who worked on our bathroom, from the team that did the demo to the people who did finishing touches, was so nice and kept everything as clean as they possibly could. You hear horror stories about renovations and this is definitely not that but I will say I do not believe I got what I paid well above average for - less stress and more attention to detail. I thought having a designer and a project manager would make the whole process less stressful. Even with the significant sum I paid for the designer, things were overlooked and decisions ended up being made on the fly, without consulting me. The big ones were 1) installing a custom shelf that was significantly too small for the space and filling the large gap with caulk instead of just admitting the measurements were off and they needed to order a new shelf. They did ultimately replace and reinstall the shelf at my request. After months of waiting for the new shelf to be installed, there is still a big gap but it’s in the back and I just want to this to be over so I’m not asking for it to be fixed. 2) The spacing of the tiles in one area of the bathroom required some problem solving because they didn’t fit evenly along the wall. The way it was done initially looked sloppy. They were willing to redo it but this required me to purchase more materials. I wish I had been consulted before they were installed. Within 2 months of installation, the grout in our shower cracked. When they came to replace the shelf that they installed even though it was too small, they agreed to fix the grout in the shower. When we got home, we realized the spots where the grout was touched up were done with a totally different grout - one that is not seen anywhere else in our bathroom. This was definitely an odd choice/oversight but mistakes happen… but then when we told the project manager this happened and it needed to be fixed, he told us that the guy just used the grout we gave him! First of all, we did not give this man any grout. Second of all, we are not the professionals here so if this man saw that the grout he thought he was supposed to be using was a completely different color (definitely not mistakable for the grout in our shower) why would he, a professional, not come to us and ask us to confirm that we actually wanted him to use that grout? While the lack of attention to detail and the poor planning bothered me throughout the process, this refusal to take accountability and instinct to blame us for something that we should not and could not be responsible for is what pushed me to leave this review. Lastly, the grout on the walls is a different color than the floor but some of the wall grout color got on the floor in the areas where the floor and wall meet. I thought this would be resolved by the cleaners if they scrubbed it hard enough but they just left and it’s still there. The cleaners also only cleaned the bathroom, not the two connecting bedrooms that were also coated in dust throughout this process like I would have expected."

"I have a lot to say about Wally. First, he is a really good guy, very charismatic, and extremely responsive by phone and email, which I appreciated. He was also generous with his time, helping me out with a few extra things that went beyond what I had hired him for, and even driving over to the house one weekend evening when the old sink in my kitchen (before he started the work) was leaking. The quality of the work was very good but not excellent. For example, in the new kitchen he installed a maple butcher block counter that is beautiful but has a large mark that's obvious when the sun comes through the window (see photo). After the job was done he repeatedly promised to come fix it but never did. There were other small details which were not completely professional in quality, but most of them he addressed once I pointed them out. And overall the kitchen looks really good (see photo). My biggest complaint is that Wally is a salesman and will promise a schedule and completion date and then not come anywhere close to staying on schedule. His crew would sometimes show up, sometimes show up late, sometimes not at all - he had other jobs going at the same time and it was never clear how he prioritized my job relative to other jobs. Once he started I expected him to work continuously on the kitchen until it was done, but that was not how he worked. My neighbor was also using him for a kitchen and back deck, and, again, the work is really nice overall, but he completed the job many months later than he promised. As far as pricing, it was fair, although there were a few items that he was clearly overcharging me for. To be fair, when I complained about one item in particular being way overpriced, he adjusted the price, but if I hadn't said anything, I would have been way overcharged. The electrician he was using was really bad and it took a few times of me complaining about the electric work before he got a different electrician. Eventually he did, and he was very apologetic. He was very flexible when I changed things last minute, and tried to work with me to make sure I was happy. And certainly some small part of the overall delays was due to my changing plans on a few items. But overall, the reason I would not hire him again was because of how frustrating it was to be promised a completion date, then have it pushed back, then be promised a new completion date, then have it pushed back, etc. And from my neighbor's experience, this wasn't just a fluke or one-time issue. I know it's not unusual for contractors to work like this, but it was pretty extreme."

"Bath Fitters end product was fine...but had to comeback for a full second day to redo shower walls not installed quite right. No extra charge but took a day out of my life. I am pleased with the final result"

FAQs for bathtub installation and replacement projects in Southeastern, PA

Most tubs last an average of 20 years, or closer to 10 to 15 if they’re acrylic or fiberglass. If you’re seeing persistent leaks, cracks, stubborn stains, or mold that won’t scrub away, it’s time to start shopping for a replacement. Out-of-date features and visible water damage are other red flags. Swapping the tub now protects your bathroom from bigger (and pricier) repairs down the road.

You should install your tub in a location that complements your bathroom's layout, plumbing connections, and personal preferences. Consider placing it near existing plumbing to minimize installation costs. Many homeowners position their tubs to take advantage of natural light or scenic outdoor views, enhancing relaxation.

Ensure there's sufficient space around the tub for easy access and safety, especially if accessibility is a concern. Ultimately, the ideal spot is where the tub fits seamlessly with your bathroom design and provides the most comfort and convenience for your needs.

Replacing a bathtub takes just one or two days if you hire a pro to handle the job. They'll remove the old tub and install the new one efficiently. If you're considering doing it yourself, be prepared for it to take much longer, possibly up to a month. That's because you'll need to remove the old tub and drywall, install the new tub, repair the walls, and maybe tackle new tiling. Weigh the time commitment against potential cost savings to decide what's best for you.

Converting your tub to a shower transforms your bathroom with a modern and accessible design. The average cost to convert a tub to a shower ranges from $2,000 to $10,500, based on the required plumbing, tiling, and structural modifications. This upgrade maximizes space while boosting functionality and aesthetics in your bathroom.
