"Company called promptly and announced a date to come out for the estimate. The date was a bit further out, but they showed up as promised and provided a good price for the myriad of items we wanted completed. We had wiring for a ceiling light with light installation done in the living room, replaced all exterior lights at garage, front door and patio with motion sensor lighting and put motion sensor light in our hallway. Company also hung shop light and installed electrical outlet box in our shed. Work was completed in just a few hours and to our full satisfaction."

"I must send many, many kudos to Eric Hanson of Absolute Electrical and in particular his crewmember, Juan. After so much head scratching on my part, nearly losing the remaining hair I have btw, I reached out to hire Eric. He sent Juan who casually found the problem. What a champ! Juan corrected our electrical issue as expeditiously as possible. Prior to Juan's arrival, our electrical issue had shut down several different rooms power source, only to find one wire had loosen from a light fixture. Who'd a thunk? Not I, said the blind man. Thanks to Eric and especially Juan!"

"Robert at Mister Sparky was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He offered up front pricing for a complete switch and outlet upgrade. They completed the work and the cost was to the penny of the quote. We had some lights that didn't work and the upgrade fixed all the issues! 100% recommend and will use them for future electrical needs."

"Words can't describe how thankful we are. January 24th hours before the snow storm hit we had electrical problems no electricity. They were here immediately. They located the problem and worked 2 days outside in the snow storm. They cared about our safety. They were knowledgeable, very thorough and clean. We recommend them highly! They have our business. GOD BLESS THEM!!"

"I purchased a hot tub from someone over a year ago, but didn't get it set in place or wire until recently. After getting it wired, the tub wouldn't fire up. My dad installed a new motor, but we still couldn't get the jets going. I gave Joe a call on Monday he said he would be out Wednesday or Thursday. I received a call Tuesday morning saying he could come out today. He was very thorough with checking all the components of the tub and explaining evertything as he was doing his thing. Unfortunately my dad crossed the wires and forgot to hook up a few others. About an hour and a half later, I had a fully functioning hot tub. He even took the time to explain to me how to clean and properly care for my spa since it is my first one. I will definitely give Joe a call for any future hot tub needs.

"We were pleased with the responsiveness shown by Fritz. He was always able to take the time to listen, return a call or come out for the estimate. He was very knowledgeable and prepared, that really goes a long way to impressing a customer. While we were very sold with Fritz, we did decide to visit his showroom to see more samples. While he was not there that day, the gal manning the store did not disappoint. She was very helpful and even showed us some of the other products that they sell. She even helped us facilitate a date that was way ahead of their competitors schedules. The crew got to our house a little late on installation day but we live in the country and that happens to alot of folks when they come out to our place. They were very efficient, clean and knowledgeable. Fritz has trained them well! He did call after installation to be sure we were happy with the results and that there were no problems. Overall we would have nothing negative to say about Innovative Garages, their employees or the owner. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve their garage or organize your storage. Our new floor is awesome!

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Stanford, IN

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
