"My basement has remained untouched from the previous homeowners. Outside of coming down to do laundry (which I dreaded because of the condition of the basement) this area has been a throw away space. The bathroom, although functional was pretty nasty so it has never been used since we purchased the house two years ago. I figured it was time to make use of this wasted space and do a complete overhaul. Having had a great experience with Roman, Ivan and the team the first time I used them, I decided to give them the job. As with the first job, they came to walk the space and we discussed the details of what I was looking for, what was possible, timing, etc. After about a day or two, I received an email with the official quote that itemized the cost of each portion of the project (labor and materials). I thought the quote was fair and we agreed on a date to start the project. Like the professionals these guys are they showed up bright and early on the agreed day and every working day thereafter. The entire project included gutting the entire space with drywall, frames, flooring, tile, shower, toilet, etc. etc., re-framing and installing all new insulation, drywall, re-routing and installing electrical, building a new wall around the existing cast iron stair case with under stair storage, cutting and removing cast iron stair spindles and railings, closing space under stair treads (these guys are magicians), installing new fire proof drywall in mechanical/laundry area, completely new bathroom installation (shower, toilet, tiling new window, access panels for water shutoffs), new flooring, painting, recessed light installation, running wires for speaker system in ceiling, installing down-firing ceiling speakers, repairing outside breach in stucco, waterproofing gaps in basement entry and above grade. I'm sure I'm missing something, but you get the idea... For the sake of keeping this review under a novel I'll try my best to summarize the entire experience. Working with these guys it feels very much like a partnership. You can tell they care very much about the quality of their work and they will stay as long as they have to to get the job done right. Unlike some of my experience with other contractors who will patch things up to get the job done, or close walls around areas they know will present a long or short term problem; these guys don't work that way. I feel a lot of trust that they will always do what's in my best interest. They bring my attention to anything they foresee as a problem, even if it doesn't directly concern them. As an example, when demo-ing the bathroom they realized the sewer line for the original toilet was set too high, so they removed all the concrete and realized the workers who built the bathroom didn't want to touch the sewer line from the kitchen seeing it was probably on it's last leg, so they left it and decided to just install a new line over that one. These guys knew I probably had a very short amount of time left in those pipes, so they replace the entire section of that line (for no additional fee). This was a project that spanned a few weeks, so it's not easy to summarize the highlights, but all in all I'm very very satisfied with the result of the project. Everyone who has seen the finished product is very impressed and requesting their contact information for their projects. I've already let them know they have another large renovation project coming from me in the near future. The project went over what I initially wanted to spend when I first decided to do this, but it was well worth it."

"The project took much longer than expected to finish because there was a shortage in supplies. As soon as the supplies arrived, Ekram’s team resumed the work right away and worked through cold winter days to complete the project. Ekram is responsive to our requests. The workers are also friendly and professional although they needed reminders to keep the work areas clean sometimes."

"Admiration and gratitude are the words that come to mind when thinking about the Dunrite Design Group. The work is of superior quality and very personalized. Even though we realize that our bathroom renovation was a "small" job in comparison to what this company handles, we felt as if our bathroom was all that mattered to owner John Dunrite and his crew. We cannot emphasize enough how accommodating John Dunrite is, paying attention to all details, constantly stopping in to check the work, taking pride in the job, and even meeting us at a tile store to pick out materials. The company's crew followed John's lead with top-notch work. Vijay, manager of the work; George, who tied it all together; and all of the men, went above and beyond to help us through the bathroom renovation process. No request was a problem. Our apartment and building were respected in terms of: cleanliness, noise control, waste removal, adherence to the time that the work was done, and quickness in which the job was completed. The cost charged was beyond reasonable. We look forward to having the Dunrite Design Group return to our home for further renovations and highly recommend this company without reservation. Thank you so much!! Carlos and Susan Miranda"

"It's been 10 years since MC installed my concrete and it still looks amazing. I recently asked Tony touch up the silicone joints in certain areas that got beaten up from the weather and his response was great. Repaired like new. The overall job back in 2008 was absolutely amazing, he hires only the best masons of course, who know nothing but perfection. The equipment is top of the line and his management of the job is the best. He oversees the entire project to ensure its done absolutely perfect from start to finish. Usually done within one day your property gets a much needed face-lift by the mid to late afternoon. Please understand that the level of service is amazing, not rushed, the crew along with trucks and equipment arrive ready to work and transition your worn cracked old concrete into a stunning new pitch perfect masterpiece, with the MezzaCappa Swirl! Rock solid indeed. You're not likely to find a service that can meet his level of performance, quality and PRICE! I highly recommend you consider and book MC for your concrete, stone, and masonry work, you will not be disappointed!"

"This is the 6th roof they’ve done for us and it came out looking really sharp. Done in one day (as usual) and thoroughly cleaned up. Affordable and professional. We would never call anyone else for a roof or deck."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Staten Island, NY

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
