"Alex and his crew of TJ, Quinlan and Charles came out to put in a sidewalk for my Mother-In-Law's apartment at our house and extend our driveway. Our house is on a little bit of a hill so they worked with us and came up with a plan to keep the slope of the sidewalk to a minimum for my Mother-In-Law. They did a fantastic job and cleaned up great after they were done. In looking at their work after they were done, I couldn't ask for anymore and it shows why it is best to hire a professional group like Concrete Craft."

"We selected Madewell Concrete in Charlotte, NC, after the rave reviews we saw on Google. Wow. What a major mistake. We had them pour an extension on our driveway and replace a patio in our back yard. The patio concrete was to be colored a natural earthen color and stamped in a random stone pattern. They poured on a 97-degree day and the result was a disaster since the concrete cured at too fast a rate to properly stamp it. When I complained, I was told by the sales guy to reach out to another company and pay more to seal it. I of course continued to complain, and they ultimately poured it again. At first, I was happy with it looking from a distance. Then after further inspection, I noticed they poured it several inches lower than the first pour; thus, it was several inches lower than the surrounding ground surface. Additionally, they broke a couple sprinkler heads and a drainage water outlet with their skid loader AND ran their skid loader into our whole house generator, damaging the generator cover and breaking its concrete base (which they slapped some concrete on hoping I would not notice) and shifting the entire generator several inches from its original location! The **** of it all is that they said NOTHING to me about it and simply left the job site once when they were done pouring the concrete. I reached out to the sales guy who quoted my project and found out he is no longer with the company, and I reached out to the project manager requesting he elevate it to his senior management. Apparently at this point I am being ignored despite multiple requests. I have had to pay dearly (thousands of dollars) to fix all they damaged and had to put pavers on top of the concrete to elevate it to ground level. I will add to all of this that they do not leave the job site without completely tearing up your grass and yard with their skid loader and they will not backfill the gaps they created between the concrete pour and adjacent grass. You will have at least an 18-inch-wide gap that is at least 4 inches deep that you as the homeowner will have to back fill with dirt to get everything level. I would give these folks ZERO stars if I could. They are a total disaster, and I might add unethical since they damaged several items on my property and said NOTHING to me about it and in fact tried to hide the damage!"

"I cancelled a job I put a deposit of $10,826.95 down for because the sale of my home fell through. I cancelled on June 13th and I still haven't received my refund as of 8/19. We have reached out on 3 separate occasions. My wife and I have been told different stories by different people as to what happened, but not much of it is adding up. After holding our deposit for over two months the manager said-- "We cannot do anything more to compensate you." Apparently, it is being overnighted this evening. Sadly, my advice is to proceed with caution. I give 2-stars because they apparently still have the money to refund me, it could have been worse I suppose."

"Our experience with CPR was mixed. First, this company is very knowledgeable and builds a high-quality pool. The finished product looks great, and our interactions with the crews were always pleasant. Communication was generally timely. They also provide startup services and "pool school" which take the stress out of the first month or so of owning a new pool. However, our beautiful new pool came at a very high cost--and I want potential future customers to be aware. The contract with CPR stipulates that they are not responsible for damage done to driveways. In signing this, I expected some damage to the area they used for staging materials and, sure enough, two squares of my roughly 250-foot long driveway were scraped and crushed on the edges. This was totally understandable and acceptable. When delivering dirt, one of CPR's subcontractors drove down the lip of the driveway (half a tire on, half a tire off) for the full length of the 250-feet of concrete. In so doing, half of the driveway is now cracked and/or crushed and needs to be replaced. There is also a healthy rut in the lawn from where the driver completely missed the concrete. Shortly after this happened, I asked Mr. Ball to come to the house so we could review the status of the project. At that time, I showed him the damage. He took pictures of the damage and made some comments about the driver and situation which I inferred meant there would be some remedy to the problem. Once the project was complete, I asked about the driveway situation. I made clear I was not asking for CPR to fix it completely, but since the damage was caused by negligence, I thought there would be some compromise on a solution. On the contrary, in a series of exchanges, I was told CPR cannot be responsible for the quality of the driveway (no driveway would withstand a fully laden truck driving on the lip) and that I could take it up with the trucking company (this is not the business with whom I had a relationship). Ultimately, I accept that CPR has no legal responsibility to fix the driveway. That said, good business ethics mandates that a company take responsibility for avoidable damage caused by negligence--not hiding behind a contract. I won't tell potential customers to avoid this company. As I said, you will get a good quality, beautiful pool. But DO NOT let them use your driveway. Insist on another access point or redline that portion of the contract. That $100k pool will could end up costing 10-20% more."

"Our experience What a nightmare This company was to deal with. Every step had issues from the wrong shape of the pool to the driveway that was majorly damaged and not fixed. They brought dirt in with broken glass and garbage in. We had to physically pick up the glass and trash so we could have the new sod. They left 6 feet of dirt in the yard that was starting to slide in the water. The project manager said that he wasn’t a project manager, so dealing with him was horrible. He was so rude all the time. He had no idea of what was happening. The workers would ask my husband what they were supposed to do and luckily he could communicate in Spanish. We managed the workers ourselves. What a nightmare and not worth it."

"We've use Pine Valley for over a year and we couldn't be happier. Our nice fescue grass was almost destroyed by weeds and invasion of Bermuda grass. Pine Valley's treatment, fertilization and overseeding now has our large lawn absolutely beautiful. I love that if I see weeds growing they respond quickly to my concern."

"It all went really well. We had another initial estimate that were exceedingly high, and indicative of more serious repairs needed - but after talking to Joe and the team they explained the difference in how the house was constructed that led to the problems - and a straightforward way to repair that was much more cost effective than my other estimate, The job went well - it took a few days to do the repairs and some time to wait for the inspectors to come by. But the end result is great, and my floors no longer sag! They cleaned up under the crawl space and put down a new vapor barrier. I would definitely recommend, Joe and the team were responsive the whole time and kept me informed."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Statesville, NC

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
