"We built our home in 2006, and had Norstar install the HVAC. The blower motor in the furnace dies on Thanksgiving evening. We called Norstar the following morning, and they wanted to treat the day after Thanksgiving as a double-overtime-holiday charge. Inm any event, parts wouldn't be available right away anyway, and the service call would be about $700 with parts. <br /> I called Anderson, as they were an authorized dealer for our brand of furnace. They sent someone out right away. She was able to get it running well enough until the parts arrived. The service call was $79, the blower motor was between $150 and $250, I don't remember, but a LOT cheaper than what Norstar wanted, and prices are largely set by the manufacturer. No bogus and quot;day after Thanksgivingand quot; surcharge. <br /> Anyway, Anderson hit a homerun on responsiveness, punctuality, professionalism and even a genuine concern for their customers being without heat.Since that service call, Norstar has gotten out of the consumer HVAC business. Anderson would have my future business either way."

"We have been extremely happy with all of the workmanship and the workers were all very professional. When John had another contractor come in, as in when the concrete was poured in the garage, they were all professional tradesman and not handymen. We had daily communication on the progress and John always talked to us in detail on how the job was progressing. All material was high grade and best quality. The job site was always cleaned up at the end of the work day. We did go above our discussed budget, but only because of some issues that needed to be brought up to code and that we decided not to go a cheaper route to fix the issue. We also made the decision to change or add on to the original plan, but we have been extremely happy with the job(s) that were done and would not change a thing we had done. We are extremely happy that our home is now maintenance free and we have and still do receive many compliments on the improvements done to our home. We would recommend Beyer Builders to anyone looking to do any remodeling to their home, inside or out!"

"I purchased an "Angie's Big Deal" to have three small jobs done at my home. I needed a toilet put in place in my powder room, a faucet changed in my kitchen, and a water filter installed in the kitchen. These three projects took longer than expected and I ended up paying for additional labor time. The installer encountered a few problems installing the water filtration system and had to come back out to correct them. Phone calls were returned promptly and follow-up before, during, and after the projects were completed was good."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Stillman Valley, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
