Small jobs welcome

"Daniel was very professional, always on time, and responded quickly to questions. He gave excellent advice (even about color selection, although he always stressed the choice should be what made us happy). In addition to painting our bathroom, Dan also made minor repairs to our kitchen cabinets and replaced the caulk in our tub/shower. We look forward to having him design and build the gate for our driveway. We have every confidence in his workmanship and honesty."

"Ovation Restoration did an excellent job with our home improvement project. In our master bedroom, to take advantage of a fantastic view, they removed a large window from one wall, sealing it up like new, and installed a similar window on another wall. The work was performed quickly and skillfully, with great results. They also turned the double door leading into that room into a single door, creating more space in the room. Concurrently, in the guest bathroom, the old tub was removed, and a beautiful walk-in tiled shower was installed, along with a window with a fantastic view. The project manager Rick was a pleasure to work with, and his team were all professional, conscientious, and friendly. Everything turned out just as we imagined. We would highly recommend Ovation Restoration."

"Michael and team did such an amazing job on our bathroom remodel. They took our tiny, dysfunctional bathroom and turned it into a true master bathroom oasis in a short amount of time during the holiday season. When they had the space down to the studs, Michael sat down with us and discussed in detail the best possible use of the space and we couldn’t be happier with our final decision after going through the options. Michael was great at communicating and we still stay in touch to this day, which we truly appreciate. Great team who does great work and I will absolutely be giving Waters Construction a call for any and all future home renovations. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. "

"What a disappointment! This was a major kitchen remodel costing over $50,000 and the attention to detail was sorely lacking. 1. Countertop-the seam in the front of the sink was so bad I made them come back and work on it again. Whatever they filled the gap with is already cracking. 2. Cabinets-I pointed out the flaws and scratches and was told it would be fixed but nothing ever happened. 3. Flooring-the flooring was installed without the proper clearances, which caused something the manufacturer referred to as ?cupping?. Additionally, there is caulk along the bottom of the baseboards. This is a floating floor and should not have caulk between the baseboards and the flooring. 4. Painting-debris in the paint on the ceiling, caulk a mess and just painted over. These are just some of the problems. And the canned lights they installed flicker all the time. I just have to hope my house doesn?t burn down. "

General building contractor who currently works independently and is looking to grow business to hire one employee. I do mostly carpentry and cabinet making my self. I do perform other trades depending on how much there is. I have good dependable subcontractors that I call when necessary. Depending on the size of the job, I ask for down payment and progress payments or may just wait to bill the job once it is complete.

"Had a great experience with RN3 for a kitchen remodel. Their price was reasonable and beat several other companies by a good amount. Had new countertops and backsplash installed and new cabinet and drawer fronts with new hardware. They also replaced florescent box lighting with canned lighting. I was very happy with the outcome and the would use them again. "

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Stockton, CA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
