"I called Nathaniel after another contractor found suspected asbestos tape in our crawl space. Nathaniel was able to arrange a same-day appointment for me at a price that was the best of all the many companies I called. He arrived on time and was professional, courteous, and competent. I plan to continue with them for the abatement of any issues his testing uncovers and would highly recommend his team!"

"ACU did a really terrific job, top to bottom! I selected ACU based on their stellar recommendations here and on other sites. It was not the cheapest estimate I got, but it felt like a solid choice based on reviews and my interactions with Terri during the quote process. Also, do note that Terri is licensed by the GA EPD to do asbestos abatement and renovations that may involve the presence of lead paint. Do not discount the importance of this; it can spare you anxiety and expense if unexpected things happen during the renovations. Terri took the time to explain everything to me, and talked to me like an adult. Other contractors I met with glossed over details and oversimplified answers to my questions, which I don't appreciate. I had done my homework, so I had a pretty good idea of the requirements and best practices for remediating asbestos, so I appreciated that Terri spoke with me candidly about the work plan, risks involved, and potential issues. Throughout the work, Terri was accessible to answer any questions I had, and when I raised concerns, she immediately called her crew to touch base, and made a point to send a manager to investigate firsthand. As far as I could tell, her crew followed the requisite practices for remediation. ACU communicated effectively and did the work well. As an anxious person, it was a great relief to have faith in the competence of the firm, and to have responsive project managers willing to answer questions. I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience."

"Jeremy is very responsive to the customer and very earnest in his work. We received a complete and thorough written report. The report showed all of the locations he'd tested, along with the lead levels observed at each spot in the interior and exterior of the house. At the time we received services, the inspection was $700 for a 2600 sq. ft. (4BR/3BA) house. If lead is found, he can do a separate assessment, which would have been $150 for us. This is some of the best money we've ever spent!"

"<p>From the first day my wife and I met with Sean, the North Georgia rep, it was a great experience all through the process. After doing some homework, NG Window Replacement received very good grades from the very large majority of customers that did business with them. After doing some research on the windows they recommended, they too had great reviews. After making some changes on the number of windows we wanted replaced we agreed on a price which my wife and I thought was fair. </p> <p>It took about 6-7 weeks to manufacture the windows, just as promised. When the windows were about three weeks from arriving we got a call from NG setting up an install date. They said it would take 2-3 days to complete the project. About a week out they confirmed once again. On June 8th they showed up on time with all the windows and a team of five installers. All were very professional, friendly and as it turned out very good at what they do. They took down all the blinds before the install and re-installed all the blinds after the windows were in. All the windows went in with no issues and the teamwork was extraordinary. They all had jobs to do and they went about their business getting it done. After actually installing the windows, their attention to the cladding, caulking and clean-up was above expectations. They were meticulous in everything they did. </p> <p>I would highly recommend NG Window Replacement. The people and their product are outstanding. Thank You NG Windows, you made this major project go seamlessly with no problems.</p> <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Stone Mountain, GA

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
