"thanks to this site, I called Greater Wilm. Structure about a brick house I was buying that had cracked brick and unlevel floors. I assumed I would only (!) need to have that section of the home jacked up and the foundation repaired. Brian returned my call quickly, and met me and my realtor at the house (was a 45 min. drive for him) to give me his opinion and verbal price quote. Many contractors/carpenters would have just focused on the project and the money involved, but Brian wanted to see WHY the house had sunk. He pointed out the major structure issues with the tresses in the attic, joists, as well as other red flags, that would cause problems later. He's a master carpenter and his knowledge, experience (and sense of humor!) was refreshing and valuable. After meeting with him I decided to pull my accepted offer on the home and feel I have saved myself untold amounts of money, stress and frustration. I will definately be hiring this company in the future."

"I had been looking for someone to build an outbuilding for me in my woods without disturbing the existing woods much more than it already was. That ruled out a drag and drop shed. Atlantic was able to build to my described vision and built me a 20X14 building that I am extremely happy with. They took care of the permits, extended and framed in my existing crush and run pad to be proper distance from property line. They built a beautiful building, and a ramp walkway for me. Installed a solar exhaust fan, stained and painted. This is a super sturdy building. I have been out there during some big winds and violent storms with no real concerns. I will surely call Atlantic Coast next time I have a project. I want to include some pics, but I’m going to have to shrink them down."

A solarium represents a specialized sunroom variant constructed almost entirely from glass, including ceiling elements in most designs, to maximize daylight penetration. While every solarium qualifies as a sunroom, standard sunrooms feature conventional roofing and partial glass walls. True solariums require specialized engineering and materials, starting around $30,000 compared to basic sunrooms that begin around $6,000, but they deliver unmatched brightness and visual openness.
Construction timelines for average sunroom projects range from two to four weeks, while more elaborate or custom solarium installations may extend up to six months. Factors influencing completion include design complexity, permit processing, weather conditions, and material availability. Factory-built systems install more quickly than custom designs, but comprehensive projects require thorough planning, proper permitting, and sequential construction phases from foundation to finishing.
High-performance insulated glass with low-emissivity coatings provides optimal thermal management for most installations. Safety requirements mandate tempered or laminated construction for all panels. Southern exposures benefit from solar-control technologies that minimize heat accumulation, while northern installations prioritize thermal retention properties. Quality glazing represents a substantial portion of your overall investment, making it essential to balance performance specifications with budget considerations.
Most jurisdictions classify solariums as permanent structural additions requiring standard building permits ranging from $250 to $1,500. Projects incorporating electrical systems, climate control, or plumbing require additional specialized permits. Many municipalities also mandate architectural review, particularly in historically designated districts or planned communities. Proceeding without proper authorization risks significant financial penalties and potential mandatory removal, making proper permitting an essential investment.
