"I was overcharged on my project to scalp, remove dead shrubs and clean back yard (turf) and patio. They charge $150 per hour , team of 3 workers. Did a great job and the owner was very professional; however, when I received my invoice, it was for 3 hours more than time spent on the job! They charged for the hour they were at lunch and time to go to the landfill to dump which we were not quoted! I spoke with Judd and he did correct the invoice and apologized 3 times. Just disappointed it happened to begin with! I felt like he should have made certain of the time before he invoiced me! Felt like I was taken advantage of!"

"Called around a little for someone to come in and do some updates and a few odds and ends that I needed to get done for some time. We called and found out that this very nice gentleman lived nearby and he was very pleasant to speak with on the phone. He came out the next day and gave me a very fair price for a good load of work. The owner did all the work himself. He brought in his cleaning crew to clean up and they did the whole house. It was amazing. Well worth every penny. They will be doing my full kitchen and bathroom remodel in the near future. <br />"

"From start to finish, John (the owner) communicated with me about what was going on. He was very polite on the phone and came to the very first meeting to assess the job with samples of various materials that might suit my project. <strong>He was prepared. </strong>He listened attentively, asked questions and made suggestions. He says "Yes ma'am!" and "Most definitely!" frequently. He grew up working with his father who had also been in the business. I really thought he might be too good to be true. When we had our first meeting I told him I wanted my house to look the same as it did before he started-only better-without peeling paint and rotted boards. My house is in the country and looks like a little cottage-style bed and breakfast. I wanted to maintain that look (even the light gray color). I was concerned that adding siding would significantly change the quaint look of my 70+ year old house. Unlike some of the other contractors, he didn't try to talk me into doing what was easy for him, he worked to find exactly what I wanted.  <br /> John was prompt giving me a quote (some others never even called back!). His price was very competitive...he wasn't the cheapest or most expensive and he was very specific about what was included. I requested shiplap siding and I had some very problematic issues with water. John took time to find the shiplap siding sample and brought it on a subsequent visit. He made suggestions about how we might deal with the water issue and even called the guttering contractor to have him consult on the solution to reroute the water. John suggested colors and materials that would be best for my type of project and answered all my questions about type, quality and how it would all work together. He even pointed out potential problem areas so we could work out solutions before he started. He was very honest about what kind of work he does and doesn't do and was willing to recommend people if he doesn't do the work himself. <br /> Once hired, Redwood Construction showed up when he said they would with a very polite and clean crew. John even introduced the individual workers (Jason and Joe)!   <strong>The owner was on the job every day.</strong> They set to work immediately and cleaned up after themselves each day. They made sure I always had safe access to my house throughout the project. They had to move my fence to work in back of the house. They made sure my fence was secure before they left each day so I could let my dogs out when I got home. John was always accessible by phone or text when I had questions about what I needed to order (I ordered my own doors and they installed them). I knew after the first day that the quality of work was going to be excellent...it showed. They worked quickly and the job was finished sooner than he estimated. He did not ask for partial payment until he actually started the job. He did not ask for the remainder until he was sure I was satisfied when the job was done. After he finished my house, he even took time to leave a sample of the siding in my mailbox so I could take it to the paint store and match it for some painting I wanted to do!. <br /> People might think John Rempel asked me to do this review or that he paid me.....but neither is true. I was just so astonished that someone did this quality of work that I wanted to make sure others in my area knew about Redwood Construction. I would recommend them without hesitation. I was very stressed about making the decision before I started, but the entire process was nearly seamless and my house is absolutely beautiful and exactly what I asked for! <br />"

"The owner came within a day, explained the damage and the needed repair, and answered my questions. I was able to schedule the repair work in less than a week, whereas it was two or three weeks with other companies. the owner was very hands-on and took pictures of the whole process so I would know what was done. The crew was amazing, and the work was satisfactorily completed in one afternoon, and afterwards, they replanted the uprooted shrubbery and cleaned up the repair site. The owner then inspected the job to make sure everything was done completely and correctly. Perhaps best of all, the fee was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing foundation repair!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Sweetwater, TX

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
