"They put up wood panels onto a wall, had to work around and extend a dual light switch. They had to get a bit creative so the panels ended at same spot on both sides of the wall. Project turned out great. Genuinely nice people to work with."

"I moved into my house in 1995. There was all ready an in-ground (plaster) pool when we moved in. It had been built in 1990 by Sylvan Pools. The pool was beautiful until around 2010. There were a couple of spots at the bottom of the steps where the re-bar was showing through. So, I decided to have it re-plastered in 2012. I thought they did a good job, at first. The last day the worker, who put water into the pool, left a stain. Okay, I put up with that. Soon after, I tried to turn on the pool light & it didn't come on. It was flooded with water. Okay again, since I never use the pool light. But, starting about 3-4 years ago my pool has started to get more & more stains in it. We live in Phoenix Arizona. We don't close our pool & the pump is run everyday. This year we have had a terrible time with algae. While dealing with it I'm finding more & more hairline cracks in the plaster. "The original pool looked great for 20+ years. This one maybe 4 or 5 years. ""ADEQUATE"" seems" "to be the ""norm"" anymore.""

"It was okay. The gentleman that was running it was a little bit abrasive, but the workers that he sent to work on my house were very nice. I don't anything really bad to say, but I don't know if I would contact them again to do any other painting jobs for me. They were very responsive. It was interesting because my friend and I had purchased the deal and they told her to get the most out of the painting that she could remove all the light fixture coverings so they could paint underneath them and I wasn't told that information. So it took more time for them to go and take those things off versus painting, so that was part of disruption of time that I wasn't really pleased with. If you would tell one person that, why wouldn't you tell everybody that because I could have easily done that myself. So instead of having extra half hour or forty five minutes may be or an hour of painting without them having through go through and take all those coverings off. There were two of his employees that came out. The individual that owns the company did not come out to my place and again he went to the friend that we purchased the deal at the same time. He went out to her place and was there to help with everything, but wasn't on site for me. They did a really good job of the painting. One painter was late, I think he had a flat tire on the freeway but things happen and he did make up that time up so I appreciated that. When I called the owner about the painter being late he was quite abrasive and he coined to let me know that I don't know what I don't know when it comes to painting and he is the expert. So that sort of customer service experience is what I didn't appreciate but the quality of work was good for the painters. Their price was very fair. It was something I didn't understand upon purchase. It was not the square footage or the rooms to be painted but it was the time."

"We had some rotted wood on our fascia boards that made selling our home impossible (buyer had a VA loan with strict termite inspection requirements). With very little lead time, Tony from Dr. Do Property Maintenance was able to come out and replace the wood rotted fascia boards. He did his work in a professional workmanlike manner and I was very pleased with the results. He's friendly and easy to work with and I would recommend him to anyone looking for fast, capable, and friendly service."

FAQs for deck or porch repair projects in Tempe, AZ

Composite and ipe hardwood decks provide the longest durability for your outdoor space. Composite decks last 30 years exactly, and ipe hardwood decks continue reliably for 75 years when maintained properly. Frequent cleaning and sealing preserve these materials and protect them against weathering. This exceptional endurance minimizes future repair needs and offers a solid, lasting investment.

Replacing your deck directly increases your home’s market value and enhances its curb appeal. A new deck returns between 50% and 65% of its cost in additional home value at resale. This upgrade not only modernizes your outdoor living space but also significantly bolsters buyer interest, ensuring that your investment adds both functionality and an attractive aesthetic.

You should replace your deck when visible signs of wear begin to compromise safety and functionality. The quality of maintenance and the durability of the chosen materials determine when a deck reaches the end of its life. For example, decks crafted from superior materials like mahogany or ipe hardwood can last over 50 years, while cedar decks require replacement after 15 to 20 years. Regular inspections help guide this decision.

Your deck needs to be replaced when clear structural issues compromise its safety. Indicators include soft spots, sunken boards, scattered wood shavings, and hollow sounds that indicate rot or pest damage. These symptoms show that simple repairs are insufficient to maintain a secure deck. A professional evaluation is essential to confirm whether full replacement is necessary to protect your outdoor living area.
