"They charged $98 to come give me an estimate for swapping our a shower valve cartridge, which was fine, but the pricing they provided was completely unreasonable, $1,000. They were unwilling to provide any detail for the price. I ended up buy the part myself for $30 and replaced it in 30 minutes."

"Charles and Kevin were outstanding! We were very impressed by the notifications to allow us to know precisely when they would arrive. They were very clear throughout the process on what was required, what the process itself entailed, the cost, and how much time was estimated for the project. In addition, they were very professional and friendly! We would highly recommend Charles and Kevin!"

"I cannot express enough how satisfied I am with the exceptional service provided by David Foster Plumbing Inc. From start to finish, David exceeded all expectations and proved himself to be a true professional in his field. As a referral, he came highly recommended, and I'm thrilled to say that he did not disappoint. Our nightmare began when we discovered a severely backed-up sewer line after decades of use. We had dealt with various plumbers in the past, but none were able to completely resolve the issue. However, from the moment David arrived, his expertise and attention to detail were evident. David approached the situation with a thorough understanding of the problem at hand. He took the time to carefully assess the situation, explaining the possible causes and solutions in a way that was easy to understand. His transparency and willingness to answer all our questions instilled confidence in his abilities. Aside from his technical proficiency, David's professionalism shone throughout the entire process. He was punctual, respectful, and maintained a tidy work area. Thanks to David Foster Plumbing Inc., we have finally found our go-to plumber. The peace of mind that comes with knowing we have a reliable professional to turn to for any future plumbing needs is invaluable. I wholeheartedly recommend David Foster Plumbing Inc. to anyone seeking top-notch plumbing services. You won't be disappointed! Five stars are not enough to convey my gratitude and satisfaction. Thank you, David, for a job well done!"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Temple Hills, MD

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
