"Wow. It could not have been easier. I filled out the information on Angies list and the phone rang a few seconds later. Heaton plumbing scheduled a time to come out. They arrived promptly and were very professional. Great service. I'll use them again if we need a plumber."

"Be was outstanding to work with. Was professional from the first encounter to the last. He came in with a mock-up of his work and the quality that he adheres to and it showed through the entire project he did for us. He replaced two sides of our fence that were about to fall down. The lumber he chose was top notch. He went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. Key examples of this was his willingness to fit us in during a weekend so that we did not have to wait weeks. This was because of concerns of an aggressive dog next door. He took our old gate that was fairly new and installed it used it on our neighbors fence to take their old gate and make it more secure (at no additional charge). He even noticed that we had a low area in our yard that was collecting water. He asked if we minded if he took the dirt from the holes he dug and used it to build up the low area so that water did not puddle anymore. I could not be happier with the end result. Will definitely use in the future and have already told people I know to use him. I wish all contractors were this great!!!"

"It was a great experience, Kate was understanding of our problem and sent Jeremy to us in a few days for an estimate. Another few days and he came back and fixed the cause of my flooded kitchen. We now have water, both hot and cold. So happy, Jeremy did a great job, would highly recommend him and Joe the Plumber to anyone who needs plumbing work."

"Richard, from Pexas Premier Plumbing, and I had a very pleasant conversation first - he was so personable, friendly, down-to-earth with a very interesting background. In getting down to business - I am having a walk-in tub installed and that company said that I would need a "rider" to ensure more hot water to help my 40 gal. existing water heater. The 3 people that I've spoken to had never heard of it. Richard, with his utmost honesty, recommended that I try the tub sans the rider to see if I really need it. Problem solved! He just saved me $400-500. A company that employs a gentleman like Richard will get my future business. I will ask for him again. Good job, Richard and Texas Premier Plumbing."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Texas City, TX

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
