Customers say: Quick response

"The home was not only built by but was also designed by this builder. The custom features of this home sets it apart from the many others that I have seen. The halls and doorways are wider than typical homes. 8 inch crown molding was used around all the ceilings, including the walk-in closets, laundry room, pantry, bathrooms and hallway to the garage. It has 10 foot ceilings with 12 tray ceilings in multiple rooms. The tray ceiling in the dining room is a sixteen-sided polygon. When I commented on how unique it looked, the builder related that the carpenters couldn't quite grasp what he was wanting, so he got up there and framed it out himself. An arched entry into the dining room adds to the impression. There are so many little things that I wouldn't even think of to ask for that were installed, like the ends of each set of cabinets finished to look exactly like the cabinet doors instead of being left flat. 6'X7' shower with bench seating on two sides and taller than normal bathroom sinks. High-end furnishings are installed throughout and remote controlled everything; lights, ceiling fans, even the gas fireplace in the master bedroom is remote activated. Built-in sound system though the entire home, surround sound in the main viewing area, security system with cameras inside and out. These features and more from a builder that seemed to care as much this home as he probably would have his own. He made sure minute details were taken care of all the while being very cordial to us and going out of his way to make our experience an optimal one. I can offer no higher recommendation other than to say that I would seek him out if we ever decide to relocate."

"John was prompt and polite. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions as he went through the inspection and even gave us tips and hints on how to repair or improve certain items (example: he recommended adding gravel around an outdoor shed to help water drain away from the base of the shed..). The inspection lasted about 5 hours on a 2100 square foot home! John was VERY thorough- just like the other reviewers said he would be. He opened every door, every drawer and every cabinet. He examined every wall, door frame, door, etc. He ran the water in all the faucets, checked every step and every banister. He took very thorough notes, and we received a summary of the inspection within 48 hours via email. We then received the full report, along with pictures and additional "homecare" information via mail within the week. The only thing I want to note is that John measured high CO2 levels in 2 places. However, when the home owners had the fire department and a second inspector check the levels, they found that they were below normal. I'm not sure why that was. We still plan on installing CO2 detectors."

"I waited a month before getting a test kit I called and was told there was something wrong with the Angies list orders but that I would be receiving a kit soon. It wouldve ben nice if they called me to tell me that though. The test results were quick and on par with other radon test I had done locally."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Thomasville, NC

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
