It turned out there was some water under the old floor (well under grade) so James added plastic sheeting under the new floor. Also pointed steps. "I was referred to Carrea and Sons by a past landlord who had Jim do his driveway so I had seen the work and knew it was good.  I also saw that he had good ratings on Angie's list so I gave him a call.  It took a little while to get a return call, but once that happened he was quick to come out and perform an estimate.  He gave me the quote on the spot.  My wife and I later changed the "plan" so I called Jim up again to ask if he could adjust the estimate.  It took a bit of phone tag until we connected again, but he re-did the estimate for me over the phone as the change didn't really require him to see it again.  We had solicited 3 other quotes and all came in well above his number.  Since I had seen his work before and the reviews were so good I figured let's just do it - so I put my name on the list to have the work done.  That was in May and his company gets very busy in the summer so I had to wait until July for the work to be done but that was not a problem for me.  We touched base at the end of June and he scheduled me for the first week of July.  On the appointed day, he showed up on time with an army of men and trucks and tools and got right to it!  They finished the excavation and laying of the asphalt on the first day and prepped the apron for concrete work.  Another smaller team came out the next day (Saturday) and did the concrete work.  Jim came by near them finishing to inspect the work and that is the first time I paid him...I had not given him a deposit or anything prior to that.  I am not an expert in concrete or asphalt, but everything looks great and has been fine since and I have no reason to think otherwise.  He and his team clearly know what they are doing and are fast efficient and offer good prices."
