"Very professional, courteous and accommodating. They also worked to keep the area clean and cleaned up after all work was completed. They listened to my concerns and offered alternative options for my consideration. I would absolutely hire them again."

"We arranged a day to have the work done.  Due to a rain storm, the
original day for the work to be done had to be moved on short notice.
The communication about moving the day was via a phone call, text
message and email - which I thought was excellent.
When the new appointment day came, the crew arrived 10 minutes early.
Everyone introduced themselves, josh reviewed the work to be done with
me, and then with the crew.  After that the crew positioned the truck,
got out their gear and got right to work.  The trees are too big for
them to use a truck or ladders, so they used ropes to climb up into the
tree canopy (no spikes used) and started pruning and removing dead
branches.  They worked for 4 hours with no breaks, stopped for about an
hour at lunch time, then did another 2 hours.  After the trimming work,
there was a bunch of branches on the ground, which they put through
their chipper/shredder, raked up the area, and used a blower to finish.
If you didn't know what had happened, you'd never have been able to
tell anything was previously on the lawn.
All in all - it was a quality experience.  Work was done right by a
professional crew.  Communication was excellent.  Price was fair and
reasonable.  I'd definitely be willing to hire them again."

"Project Result: Excellent - far exceeded expectations.

Frank Fasolo arrived early for our appt for an estimate.  We discussed the nature of the project: to remove all visible traces of the inground koi pond - bring all of the area (which included a raised garden bed) to grade.  He gave me a ball park estimate of the cost and said the project would take about 3 days to complete.  He followed up with an email outlining what we discussed.
I made my decision to use Greenfield and emailed Frank.  We negotiated a bit,  made the date for the job to begin and the rest is history.
Frank arrived with his worker on a Saturday morning with two jack hammers and immediately began working.  The process he outlined worked flawlessly.  He knew exactly where to start. The cement walls of the pond were on average about 1'6" thick and the depth at its lowest is 4'6".  He started with the "hardest first" and proceeded around the pond where the structure changed to an all tiled platform, raised garden bed and a waterfall. The objective was to bring down the pond to grade (1'6") and then another 1-2 feet below grade to be filled with topsoil.  The debris was to be left in the pond.
There were a few unknowns that popped up - one example:  We knew that there was 'some' rebar but not to the extent we found once the work began.  We knew that there was a 275 gallon plastic drum filled with lava rock (for filtration) buried under the waterfall.  What we didn't know was that it was caged in steel and rebar!!  Unearthing the drum was probably one of the hardest parts of the project.  The steel/rebar was removed, the drum was cut to fold down on itself and then covered with debris.  The project did take 3 days to complete.
The final result is a beautifully restored area of my backyard that is now suitable for planting or a patio or a stone grill or nothing at all.  By the way the clean-up was better than the way it looked before the demolition.
Frank demonstrated great skill, experience and professionalism.  He was on site throughout the project and worked along side of his worker.
I almost forgot - Frank not only laid and compacted the topsoil - he voluntarily fenced in the area so that my dogs wouldn't be able to dig in the dirt.
Greenfield deserves accolades for a job well done by an expert. Thanks a million Frank.  I'll see you soon to pave the walkway (once I find the bricks). :-)"

"Rightway Waterproofing is the company you want to come and waterproof your basement. I had initially set up a job looking for pros through Angie's List. I was contacted by Rightway Waterproofing via phone and email but did not respond as life happens. Well it rained really heavy again in August and I had more water in the basement. I reached out to them on a Friday and Albert contacted me immediately. They were able to come out on Monday to look at my property. Jake was thorough and friendly. He let me know what he thought we needed, explained everything thoroughly and gave us a quote which was completely reasonable. We accepted the bid and work was to commence on Thurs as they had an opening. Work was completed in one day. The area was kept pristine and they did an amazing job. The crew was courteous to my family. I could not recommend them more. I hope to have them out again at some point to finish my basement area as well. Try to keep in mind that during the season of covid many families are looking for ways to make more space in their homes or to have to home projects done. If you are waiting for work to be done just know that it is worth it! Thanks Rightway!!!"

"Update 11/11/15.  I've decided to update my review score & write-up for several reasons.  1) A grade of 'F' may have been too harsh since no work was performed to evaluate quality.  2) I've re-written some potential issues which Owner can respond to for the sake of other potential customers to evaluate.  NOTE: I never received an explanation or apology for what took place but did receive a total of (4) calls from owner's wife and numerous threats via phone & voicemail of intent to sue me for the bad review.

Main issue: After speaking multiple times, Eugene Boyd was supposed to leave a contract for my review to potentially expand my driveway.  Our last conversation confirmed scope, required inspections & responsibility for the base layer beneath the asphalt (most important part - recommend 6" for cars, up to 8" for trucks). Eugene said he wanted my business asap but never returned calls to his business or cell phone for 2-weeks.  When I finally managed to get him on the same cell phone he called me from, he lied about who he was & that he didn't know Boyd Paving.  This bothered me, very much so.   I don't like being lied to, but more importantly, in my mind it re-confirmed my suspicions of whether or not I'd be able to track Boyd down should I have any issues with my driveway.  Decide for yourself.

Recommendations to Owner for future business practices:
1) Confirm which phones & cell phones your business utilizes

2) Confirm what address your business operates from since multiple are listed.  Your NJ HIC license lists "Eugene Boyd Paving" company operating out of residential unit in Fair Lawn.  Angies List, Facebook & Website list "Boyd Paving" operating out of a commercial building in Ridgefield.  An additional HIC license application was started but not completed for "Boyd Paving" operating out of Hackensack.   Numerous phone numbers are listed but no one ever answers the phones which are forwarded to an answering service for screening.

3) If you must forward calls, forward them to your cell phones & provide a voicemail indicating who you are.

4) Confirm what your standard warranty covers

5) Increase your insurance coverage & issue certified Accord COIs.  $500,000 is not enough for handling heavy equipment.  Include workmens comp policy & automobile policy since both are required to complete a job.

6) Confirm if you use staff covered by your insurance or subcontractors.   Do they have insurance?

7) Confirm what your typical payment terms are & who checks are made out to

8) Add some type of identifying information to your website, Facebook page etc.  Pictures of staff, previous projects, something that makes customers feel confident that this company can't disappear overnight.  Bad driveway jobs don't usually show for a couple of years.

Any contractor that wouldn't' comply with these basic legal business principles is not a contractor I want at my house, no matter how inexpensive the quote.
