"From start to finish, very courteous and easy to work with. They explained everything along the way. Also, they made sure we got items put where we wanted and if it was more efficient a different way they explained why. Still giving us the option of what we wanted. Cleaned up after themselves! Thank you, Eric, Mark, Tim and Sebastian!! Highly recommend Improve It.ð  Â"

"I had old style yellow oak kitchen cabinets. Instead of tearing them out, I decided to reface with MadCity. They were professional, efficient and did excellent work. My cabinet doors were re-made in a newer more modern style, the hinges are now on the inside and slow close, and the finish is beautiful. I am now proud of my kitchen. I would recommend MadCity based on quality of their product and work. These have a lifetime guarantee and being local, I am confident in their service in the future (though I'm doubting I will have issues). Great experience from sale to installation."

"We can’t say enough about Brad and his brother’s work on our kitchen cabinet refacing. It looks like we had all new cabinets installed. They were so professional in every way. Their work is impeccable. Their price was very affordable. They set up their tools in our garage and when they left, our garage was cleaner than it has ever been. LOL! Give Brad a call. We highly recommend! Tom W., Englewood, Ohio"

"We got an estimate on kitchen cabinets and counter tops. He was extremely friend and professional. He offered several very good ideas. Their price for the cabinets can't be beat!  Excellent quality and reasonable price. Cabinets are not the particle board junk found at your local big box store. Drawers are dovetailed. When we are ready to do our kitchen I would buy from them! <br />"

"Clyde and his son were on time just as he said he would be.  Our floors are not the most level which I was a nervous about and I was nervous about how everything was going to all fit to size.  It took two and half days to have everything completed.  this was only because they had to leave early one day due to a snow storm coming through.  He and his son came back the next day and finished.  Once all of the cabinets were hung and installed, it was time to put the stove and refrigerator in.  To this day, I still cannot believe those appliances fit like a glove and everything was level and you would have never known that our house has uneven floors and not the most square walls.  Our cabinets are maple and we have them painted a bisque color with dark walnut handscrapped flooring.  Our kitchen is absolutely beautiful and everyone that see's it loves it.  Clyde was so easy to work with and was very enjoyable to be around while he was working.  He was very clean and had every single tool that he needed.  If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Urbana, OH

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
