"Jeff and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Everything you could ask for, fair pricing, on-time and on schedule for everything from quoting to performing work. His crew was good about minimizing clutter and mess, and delivered excellent results. Will not hesitate to use them for future work, and have already referred family member their direction."

"This is the most amazing company I have ever worked with! I found them on Angie's List and called them to paint the sheds before I even moved in. They found some junk in them and around them that the previous owner hadn't cleaned up and they hauled it all away for me! I truly appreciated the extra care they gave! Nathan talked to me about the early stages of mold on my vynal siding. He offered to power wash the house for an amazingly low price. It made my home look fresh and clean. (Several of my neighbors saw the difference and got their homes power washed as well!) I asked them to paint my bathrooms and they were done beautifully. I was so pleased, I asked them to paint the rest of the interior and stain new handrails I had made for the basement and garage of my home. Each time the team was wonderful to work with. Nathan (the owner) checked and re-checked each project and ended up "throwing in" those extras that really made the home look "done." He took the time to point out future projects (like my garage interior) that I could consider to make my home as safe as it was now beautiful. I can't say enough wonderful things about Nathan and his three man team. They were personable, polite, and enthused about each of the projects. I already talked to my neighbors about them and I think two of them have called Nathan to do some work for them. I would encourage you to give Custom Painting and Home Repairs a call for your next painting or handyman project!"

"I sent the money and dimensions in in November 2011.  She responded back very quickly, informed me that she was very busy and wouldn't be able to start on my project for a couple of weeks.  I actually responded that that was fine.  After a month or so with no contact, i emailed.  She emailed  right back, apologized and asked for some more measurements.  I sent them.  Didn't hear anything, when in response to inquiry, she asked again for living room measurements-- that was Feb. 3rd.  On Feb. 20th, I emailed and asked for timeline.  She responded back the next day with 3 designs asking for my preference.  I emailed back on the 22nd of Feb with my preference.  On March 16th, I inquired again as to timeline for completion. Two weeks later she sent a concept board with some furnishings.  No window coverings or lights were suggested.  Three were multiple rugs with no direction of which one for each room.  All and all, not a pleasant experience.  I suspect I could have gotten better service using Pottery Barn's free design service (especially since most of the furnishings came from there.)"

"We originally contracted Joe Bishop out of Wichita, KS to install a bathroom in our basement. However, after months of much stress and lack of communication with him and his partner, Joe Gunn, the job was never finished. We eventually had to cut our losses and find someone else to finish the job. Ken with Hummingbird was able to finish the job quickly and efficiently. Bottom line: I would strongly recommend against ever using Joe Bishop or Joe Gunn to anyone. What a nightmare! However, I would highly recommend Hummingbird Construction for a pleasant, stress-free experience.

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Valley Center, KS

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
