"While researching radon mitigation companies Rich was always on point in calling me back and sending email. This is what was the deciding factor in choosing which company we picked. I also called Rich back after we found out the exterior foundation had lead paint. He said they would take precautions to contain the dust from drilling the concrete. The other prospective companies had no idea on how to deal with this scenario and never called back when they said they would. The workers showed up a half hour early which was great and finished in 2 hours. The workers were very professional and cleaned up like they were never there. I asked if they could put it a certain location that was more convenient for us. No questions asked and they agreed that it would be a good spot. They caulked all piping in the basement so the system could be more effective in mitigating the radon. After installation they went over the system and answered any questions that I had. They guarantee the system and to get the levels below 4. The price was reasonable compared to other quotes. I would highly recommend them no questions asked."

"The service provided was Excellent! The radon level is now safe!! Joh and his team agreed to instal the system on one of the coldest days of the year in early Jan because I was worried and didn't want to wait for better weather. They were punctual, professional and personable. Joh helped pick the location for the unit so that it would be functional but also uninstrusive in the basement and on the outside of the house. Except for the soft whirring sound you would never know the system was there. It blends in so well on the outside that it just looks like another drain spout. I couldn't be more pleased. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants to lower the radon in their house to a safe level."

"My husband and I had a very negative experience with a different inspection company a couple of years ago, so we were extremely cautious when searching for a new inspector. John Fleenor exceeded our expectations to such an extent that this is the second time we are utilizing his services, and we have no regrets whatsoever. We will hire him every time we need an inspector. He inspected the entire extent of the house carefully and reported every single issue. He discussed each issue with us, highlighting the more urgent ones. He was very patient with all our questions and remained available afterward for additional inquiries after we received the report. We also hired him for the radon control and pest control tests. The price was fair and totally worth it."

"My wife and I recently had George inspect a home we are buying. He did a home inspection and radon test, and he contracted the pest inspection for us as well, which occurred simultaneously. I had read great reviews about George and I am pleased to say not only were they spot on, he outperformed my expectations. When we arrived, George was already climbing a ladder to walk the roof. He unplugged a couple downspouts (not necessarily his problem, but he wanted to make sure everything was draining properly) and thoroughly walked the roof, inspecting and describing all of what he was seeing. Once the roof was done, he came down and inspected the entire outside of the home and not only noted issues, but also gave us some great advice on future maintenance of the home, especially given that it has a Tudor siding which requires specific installation processes. He noted several areas where we should improve grading for proper drainage, etc. Inside the house he was just as thorough, checking EVERY outlet without fail, all switches were confirmed, etc. The utilities were all gone through very well and just the same as the exterior, George was a wealth of information for future items to pay attention to or upgrade. Aside from George's actual services, he was very pleasant to work with. He has a lighthearted demeanor and makes what would normally be a tedious process very much enjoyable. He spent 4 hours doing our inspection and we both feel that we know exactly what we are buying and learned a wealth of great information about properly maintaining the home. His report was very detailed with clear explanations of current condition as well as his recommendations to fix issues, complete with very nice photos showing each in detail. I would not hesitate to recommend George as a home inspector to anyone, I could not be happier with his work. Others in the industry should watch him work and follow suit, because it seems harder and harder to find people who take pride in doing a job right and making sure their customer gets exactly what they are paying for. You can really tell that George wants every customer to be satisfied with his work. If you are reading this review, look no further. A+++++++ <br />"

"Randy showed up early and did not try to rush through it. He encouraged us to ask many questions and made sure we understood everything he was go over. It ended up being more than just an inspection as it was really a crash course for new homeowners on the maintenance and upkeep of homes. He provided us with the report the same day, except for the radon results as those take at least 48 hours to complete. The report was very thorough and even included pictures with recommendations of what to get fixed/repaired immediately as to those that can wait. <br />"

"Inspectioneering LLC's services were excellent. Rob showed up on time, went through the entire report while I was there, and followed up within the day with the completed home inspection report and wood-destroying insect inspection report. Inspectioneering LLC performed a home inspection, radon inspection, and wood-destroying insect inspection. Given that the day of the inspection had snow on the roof, Rob noted that he would try again after completion of the radon inspection (radon inspection requires 48 hours of monitoring). There was enough snow melted that Rob was able to fly his drone to inspect the roof where snow was not present. Inspectioneering LLC can also coordinate inspections of the sanitary sewer with Sewer Flow and inspections can occur at the same time. Rob was thorough in his explanations and helpful in explaining what an inspection is and what an inspection is not. Note, the price listed below was for all of the inspections: home, radon, wood-destroying insect, and sanitary sewer. Note, only the person(s) who are to purchase the property are permitted at the inspection."

"They did a really good job. We got the results back from post remediation and they were below 4 picos per liter. It was a very good experience. They're very easy to work with, show up on time, got the work done, got the radon level down to where it needs to be."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Vandergrift, PA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
