"A+ all around and HIGHLY recommend Brian and Sandy! From start to finish, professionalism all around. I had previously used another radon company in my prior home and was disappointed with the sloppy work of the installers and overall disappointing level of service. Brian came out to the house right on time, as scheduled. He proceeded to explain to me my installation options given a relatively tight area with limited choices to route the exhaust pipe. We decided on the most appealing spot and he explained how he would cut into the block wall to make a clean cut, and where he would drill into the floor to put the 4" pipe. Throughout the process he was extremely attentive and courteous - draping the workspace in a canvas dropcloth to protect against dust, using a shop-vac while drilling to keep the area clean, and overall just being a conscientous houseguest by removing his shoes inside, etc. From start to finish it took about 2 hours and the finished product looked fantastic. Do yourself a favor. Don't look anywhere else and give them a call. You won't be disappointed!"

"My main beef is that I was not advised, nor really consulted, about my options as to WHERE the huge PVC pipe can go. As such, it was placed in the middle of the garage wall and I lost 10 inches of width on that side of the garage. Maybe if a pre-inspection had been done, it would have been different, but I feel that Larry should have advised me on the phone, BEFORE the day of installation, that I should think about where the pipe should go. I think the installers, also, should have given more consideration as to where it should go, and told me the advantages and disadvantages of a certain placement. A second concern is that the EPA recommends that the cracks in the basement floor be sealed AFTER the installation since the vacuum will suck good air thru the basement cracks. No mention of this recommendation was made. If Radon Detection and Control doesn't want to do this, that's fine, but at least advise me that it should be done."

"The service provided was Excellent! The radon level is now safe!! Joh and his team agreed to instal the system on one of the coldest days of the year in early Jan because I was worried and didn't want to wait for better weather. They were punctual, professional and personable. Joh helped pick the location for the unit so that it would be functional but also uninstrusive in the basement and on the outside of the house. Except for the soft whirring sound you would never know the system was there. It blends in so well on the outside that it just looks like another drain spout. I couldn't be more pleased. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants to lower the radon in their house to a safe level."

"My husband and I had a very negative experience with a different inspection company a couple of years ago, so we were extremely cautious when searching for a new inspector. John Fleenor exceeded our expectations to such an extent that this is the second time we are utilizing his services, and we have no regrets whatsoever. We will hire him every time we need an inspector. He inspected the entire extent of the house carefully and reported every single issue. He discussed each issue with us, highlighting the more urgent ones. He was very patient with all our questions and remained available afterward for additional inquiries after we received the report. We also hired him for the radon control and pest control tests. The price was fair and totally worth it."

"Every once in awhile you come across people who by their presence, make the world a sunnier, brighter, and more congenial place. George Kasimirsky is one such individual. Not only did he do an excellent job performing a home and radon inspection, he was able to make the process enjoyable. George was thorough, patient, knowledgeable, cost effective, and timely: an inspector who has your back in researching one of life's larger purchases. I highly recommend National Property Inspection and plan on working with George in the future if the need arises!"

"They did a really good job. We got the results back from post remediation and they were below 4 picos per liter. It was a very good experience. They're very easy to work with, show up on time, got the work done, got the radon level down to where it needs to be."

"Randy showed up early and did not try to rush through it. He encouraged us to ask many questions and made sure we understood everything he was go over. It ended up being more than just an inspection as it was really a crash course for new homeowners on the maintenance and upkeep of homes. He provided us with the report the same day, except for the radon results as those take at least 48 hours to complete. The report was very thorough and even included pictures with recommendations of what to get fixed/repaired immediately as to those that can wait. <br />"

"One of my home's bedrooms was showing mold on the ceiling and also in that room's closet. That closet also contains the entrance to the attic. My home is one story. I phoned MoldMedics (MM) and spoke with Thad. Thad came to my home the next day and inspected both the moldy bedroom and also other parts of the house, looking for mold that I might have overlooked. He told me what was causing the mold and he suggested what could be done in the future to prevent another mold outbreak. Thad quoted a fair price ($845 + tax) to fix the problem, and I accepted. Five days later Matt from MM came to my house and spent about 5 hours fixing the problem. Matt did an awesomely good job, including cleanup. Matt was very generous with his time spent answering my many questions, and he offered suggestions.Matt also gave my bathroom a quick chemical fogging, even though it was not on the original to-do list, thus it was a freebie. I am very satisfied with MM's fast response to my problem, their quality of work, and the fact that both Thad and Matt so patiently answered all my questions without making me feel rushed. I wouldn't hesitate to use MM again in the future."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Donora, PA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
