"They cleaned up the old drive which was tarmac and provided 2 layers of chip and tar. They were extremely thorough, clearing away old brush from the driveway edges, cutting down overhanging branches in the way before laying the drive. Came back a few days later to touch up any tar that occasionally seeps through the stones. They then provided extra stones within a day of our requesting some for our own touch up purposes. The driveway looks awesome. They produce very high quality work, were extremely responsive, honest, hard working and nice to go with it. I would recommend them to anyone! Price a little high but compared to all the other contractors who either didn't show up or seemed to have no interest, it was well worth the money."

"I had a highly positive experience with Atlas Paving. Eric came out, gave me a quote. He was punctual, pleasant, and professional. Took a few weeks to officially get on schedule (they were busy and the weather was crappy) but he was completely up front about it and followed through on what he said he would do. The day of the work they were punctual (7:30 a.m.) and ready to work. Brought in all of the machinery and a crew of four and they were done by 10:15 a.m. Did a good job cleaning up. They were generally $900 -1200 less than the three other quotes I received. The driveway looks great; hopefully it withstands the test of time. I have no reason to think that it won't. <br />"

"This review is long overdue. I contacted Sealpro Mahwah because I have seen their work in several driveways in the neighborhood. I can literally see why they are recommended. Their work looked very good on every driveway that i saw. I contacted the business and response time was very good. I spoke w Lou and he was upfront, honest and very nice. We discussed work that needed to be done- sealcoating and crack fills. We were able to negotiate the quote. I admit the quote was not the lowest of the three bids I received from companies BUT Lou seemed the most upfront of what we could expect. I was comfortable on price we landed on and very happy I went with SealPro. I have recommended to my neighbors and would use them again. Thank you to Lou, his crew and everybody at SealPro."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Vernon Township, NJ

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
