"I found Dreamscape on Angi, and Tom Rozier and his crew did a fantastic job transforming my daughter's back yard while her husband was deployed. Working within my budget, Tom figured out how to replace a weedy, worn patio with something polished and beautiful that reminds me of the yellow brick road. Led by Tom's wonderful #2, Larry, Dreamscape provided plantings flanking the "road," in the corners of the yard, and in front--everything looks great. The leader of the crew who put down the hardscaping was a genius. In addition, Tom recommended Wright's Wells and Drilling to remediate the drainage problem that had long made the back yard unusable; Gary Wright worked miracles. Besides being likeable, Tom, Gary, and Larry are all seasoned professionals. They were communicative and helpful and worked within the constraints of weather and other jobs to get my job done before my deployed son-in-law returned. Heartily recommend Dreamscape."

"After searching for a company to build a deck for 2 years, we finally came across Marlowe's. They suggested a patio instead and we are SO GLAD they did! It works far better for our backyard, and looks incredible! They suggested the layout of the patio based on how we use our backyard and it was a perfect design. Drainage was a huge concern for us, and they made sure everything worked perfectly with that. They were great with communication and they didn't mind that our kids constantly watching them through the process. We had them build a patio and an outdoor kitchen and it's our favorite place to hang out now! The whole team was very professional, very thorough, and made sure we were aware and prepared every step of the way. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!"

"This was a very involved plaster repair and remediation job, in a very old house. Grady is the only person (or company) who was willing to take on the job and drive all the way from Pennsylvania to our home in Northern Virginia. There are very few people who do this kind of work anymore (we really searched) and he is an expert in his field. We needed to work around his schedule, because he is in demand in the tri-state area, so it took awhile to schedule the work to begin... but it was worth it."

"Initially, I was very unhappy with the job. The floor was covered in smears and I was told I would need to wipe them off as the floors dried. The grout was also still very cracked and the few repairs that had been done just had grout pushed in on top of the cracked grout. The next day I called and expressed my dissatisfaction so they scheduled the technician to come back out a week later. By the end of another 6 hours, the floor is beautiful! Cracked grout was cut out in necessary spots, new grout put in, and floors hand buffed. Very happy with the end result....just a little tough getting there."

"Brooks, Gail, and the team were wonderful throughout the entire process.  We met Gail (the Landscape Designer) at the Home and Garden Show and booked an appointment.  Gail came out on time and, right from the start, was already thinking of things in a way we couldn't have even imagined.  She took what we wanted and drew it up by hand and presented it to us in person.  She blew us out of the water.  We never would've been able to come up with anything close to that on our own.  We gave her a budget and she stuck to it.  She gave us options and wanted for us to just enjoy what we would have and not price us out of our neighborhood.  She listened to what we wanted and needed and then gave us so much more! <br /> They actually were able to start earlier than expected.  The job took a couple days longer than planned simply due to poor weather.  But it doesn't even matter.  Our yard started out as mud pit.  We never went out there.  Now, it's a paradise and we can't stay away!  Brooks, the owner, was on the job each day and he wanted nothing more than for us to be happy.  We actually purchased and built a pergola before they started, and they installed it for us.  They worked late more than once to make sure they were staying on track. The guys were professional, hard-working, and cleaned up after themselves.  <br /> I cannot say enough good things about Brooks Landscaping!  They were not the cheapest, but they certainly were the best!  They answered every question we had and always made time for us.  Excellent service, excellent responsiveness, and excellent quality!!  We couldn't be happier!!!! <br />"

"Had Gardens By Oz back to my house to complete the backyard landscape renovation. Could not be happier! Gary explained which plants/flowers should go where and also put together the largest and most beautiful flower pots flanking either side of my patio steps. Can’t wait to use GBO for the next phase!"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Virginia Beach, VA

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
