"This was our annual electrical inspection. Anthony was excellent, professional and easy to talk with. He answered our questions, explained everything and fixed a minor problem with the wiring for a couple of light switches. We are a Happy Outlet family! The office staff are great, too."

"Jason with Battle Born Electric installed under-cabinet lighting in my kitchen and dimmers on all the many overhead lights in my kitchen and living room. The under-cabinet lighting is also dimmable and, in addition to being practical, really accents that area. Jason was professional, easy to work with and very reasonable in pricing. I am very pleased with the work done by Jason and recommend Battle Birn Electric."

"He was on time, clean, efficient, professional and quick. I have had Pedro do several small electrical chores in my home, not the least of which was installing a new electrical box for a bidet I had installed. He also helped redo some wiring work that was clearly not done by any professional."

"I ASKED NEIGHBORS TO RECOMMEND AN ELECTRICIAN TO FIX REPEATED FAILURES IN INTERIOR CIRCUITRY. RESPONSES WERE NOT FLATTERING TO THE PROFESSION I FOUND THE OWNER OF WIRE ME THROUGH HOME ADVISOR. HE SHOWED UP ON TIME, , IDENTIFIED SOURCES OF THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST TEN MINUTES, 15 MINUTES LATER HE HAD PREPARED A COST ESTIMATE, HE SUGGESTED UPDATING NINE RECESSED CEILING FIXTURES , WITHOUT SALES PRESSURE., HE AMENDED THE ESTIMATE. WE APPROVED, HE SECURED THE PARTS AND COMPLETED THE ENTIRE PROJECT WITHIN TWO HOURS. A REAL PRO."

"We initially hired Chris to finish a small bathroom remodel, including installing new shower panels, new vanity countertop, new sink and some drywall repair. He did an amazing job, took his time and really paid attention to the details. The bathroom looks amazing thanks to him. We also hired him to install some new interior doors and a new swamp cooler. Chris stayed till every detail was taken care of and the job was complete. Highly recommend & we will hire him again!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Virginia City, NV

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
