"This is kind of a mixed review. Service was great, follow up not so good. Charlton, a service rep, responded the same day and arranged an appointment with us. He gave us a quote for the repair over the phone. He arrived promptly and fixed the shield so that the self cleaning feature of my oven worked. He then showed me how to set it up. Only after he left did I realize that the timer function did not work. I had to turn off the self cleaning manually. While he was here, we asked him about replacing a burner on our Amana range top. He promised to call the next day with a quote. We never heard from him. My husband called C&T Appliance a week later and asked them to get back to us. They never did."

"Clinton was very professional with my new dryer and washer. He told me the price upfront and installed it with as much care as I've ever seen anyone take to install an appliance. He did the job right, the first time. Happy and would hire again."

"Alfredo came right at the promised time. He quickly assessed the problem, found an igniter in his truck, installed it without hesitation and the oven came back to life. On the phone he had promised that the $65 cost of the visit would be included in the price of the repair and it was, as promised. He was respectful and explained the problem and the solution clearly."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Wanaque, NJ

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
