"Avert Radon LLC , specifically Chance, recently completed radon mitigation work at my residence, installing two systems. I typically refrain from writing reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience with Avert Radon LLC . I'm extremely satisfied with the results, as the radon levels are now virtually undetectable. Chance demonstrated exceptional professionalism throughout the process. The communication was excellent, and their meticulous attention to detail was also outstanding. Furthermore, their post-installation follow-up has been consistently excellent. I highly recommend this company without reservation. They are among the best service providers I've encountered. if I could give it more than five stars, I certainly would! "

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Basement and Radon Solutions has been such a blessing!  My husband and I bought a house to flip that had some major issues with the crawlspace (so bad it couldn't pass the CL-100).  We had water issues, mold, no insulation, radon that needed treated in the crawlspace and slab area, and more.   Rod came out to look at the space and really took his time to figure out solutions to all of our issues.  He explained everything to us in a way we could understand and also worked with us to try and find a way that we wouldn't have to shell out extra money for a french drain.  In the end, we needed to add it, but he guided us in trying to fix problems to we could avoid it. This company is definitely more concerned with customer care and quality work than getting extra money out of people.  They've been honest, respectful, thorough, helpful, and transparent through the whole process.  Their office staff is fantastic too - So communicative and nice to work with! We had three guys out working on the crawlspace for about 5 days.  They were each so kind and friendly and boy did they work hard.  We had snow coming towards the end of the week, so they worked long hours to make sure the crawlspace was finished in time.  They were happy to answer any questions I had, and you could tell that they take a lot of pride in the work that they do.  They were respectful of our house and showed so much integrity.  They cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave any trash behind.  They were AMAZING! Now, our crawlspace is GORGEOUS.  I would even go under there and that is saying something!!  They went above and beyond to fix every one of our issues.  All of our other contractors who have been in the crawlspace rave about how nice it is and they've all said it's the nicest crawlspace they've worked in.   I wish I had a before picture so you could all see the difference because it is night and day!  And what's better is I know everything was done right.  If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!  Do yourself a favor and reach out to Basement & Radon Solutions.  You can trust them completely!"

"Affordable Home Inspections did a professional home inspection. Also a Radon Test and Pest Inspection. They were a little late in getting the pest and radon done. As time is always an issue during a real estate transaction, make sure your agent presses the need for timeliness.  I was present for the home inspection and would have preferred one-on-one conversation, rather than just reading it in a report later. Overall a good job and I would use them again. But I would ask questions, so later there would be fewer surprises. I gave them high marks because they were very thorough and professional, which is after all most important. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Weaverville, NC

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
