"VP General Construction (Kleven) completed several small jobs at our house. Hanged 2 new interior doors; repaired the hinge on an existing interior door; patched and painted holes left behind in our kitchen and foyer; removed a screen door and cleaned up and painted the door frame; added trim to a closet door then painted the trim, closet door, and closet interior. He finished all this work in 2 days, the work was done to a high standard, and the price was reasonable. He's a professional with good attention to detail and very reliable. I highly recommend this company for residential repair work."

"Prompt response for the estimate. Once we agreed work started within a few days. Tony constructed 3 wooden gates on site to replace old ones, and replaced rotten base boards on existing fence. He was thorough and cleaned up all debris. Would hire this company again."

"Along with our sincere thank you, Jay did a wonderful job. The large mailbox cover became dislodged from the hinge and was placed on the floor. Mail could not be delivered unless the door was put back in place. Jay saw the need and with determination and skill, he repair the mailbox on the spot. The Association appreciated how Jay, took on the challenge and immediately repaired the door hinge. Jay was thorough, determined and has good work ethnics. Our Association would look forward to working with him again."

"Jim and his team were knowledgable, professional and very thorough in their work.  We are very pleased with the results.  Jim is creative and finds a way to get things done when faced with challenges.  We had a 2nd story window which was difficult to reach due to landscape and Jim handled it smoothly and with no problem.  His team was conscientious and took their time to make sure each opening was done properly to insure a weatherproof installation.  We highly recommend Trust Builders LLC and are making arrangements to use them again on a basement remodel."

"Everything turned out very nicely and I was extremely pleased with the quality of work done. Thomas and his assistant arrived on time and did a fantastic job; very neat, clean and the result is exceptional . They replaced the damaged walls in my long hallway and bedroom and in a few other small areas with 3 coats plaster, primer and painted entire area. This was a 2 day job and since the job was finished sooner than expected and he had the time, he agreed to paint the interior of the garage which really needed a thorough cleaning. Came out beautiful. I will definitely use the services of Argostoli again. Very reliable and highly recommend Thomas and his company."

"I have an antique chest that I dearly love, but its handles were coming off.  This had been driving me nuts for quite some time, so I finally decided to deal with it & signed up with Angie's List. I called three places on Angie's list, and left three voice mails.  Mr. Gaines was only the second to answer, but he was ready to do the  job immediately.  (The outfit that had responded  before him might have been a tad cheaper, but would have required me to wait nearly a week--in both cases the businesses had a a standard minimum charge.)  Mr. Gaines was very familiar with my problem, and able to supply additional parts to replace those of mine which needed replacing. The job was done in two days  (one day to look at the problem and carry away the diseased  handles, a second visit two days to put everything back and finish off the job). I am delighted with it--not least because it was a real pleasure doing business with Mr. Gaines.  I found him most simpatico.

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Weehawken, NJ

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
