"They did our basement right before Christmas. They did a fantastic job. They even helped me remove an old well pump that was in the way of their work. They were very professional and punctual. In the picture that shows the Pipe coming down the wall Water use to seep up through the floor there and over in the corner where the sump pump pit is in the corner it would actually run down the wall that is no longer happening. As you can see in the one picture the amount of water that was coming in as they were working was not a good thing as it had not rained in about a week."

"Brian came over after we had talked with several contractors about a concrete porch underside (in basement room) and one of those contractors made us think the concrete was in such a bad state of "imminent failure" that it needs a full replacement. So, while we continued to get quotes for a full replacement, we also asked a retired architect friend to give his opinion. He did not think concrete was so bad and he was glad we were having a structural engineer (Brian) coming over a few days later. Brian explained why he did not think the concrete was in need of full replacement (very expensive!) and also the damage was not a foundation/structure integrity issue (not "imminent failure"). We had spoken to several contractors and the cost to fully replace is upwards of 15-20 thousand dollars. From the state of the concrete, Brian did not believe the "symptoms" warranted a full replacement and that the more likely issue was simply that we never "sealed" the concrete with epoxy (and only painted the concrete porch). Given the sky-rocketing costs to do any home repairs, it seems more reasonable for us to do first level repair (not replace) that Brian suggests. Brian's honest and informative consultation (for free!!!) is piece of mind and a HUGE savings. We greatly appreciate Brian coming over to educate us - on his own dime. We will definitely ask Brian to come over again if/when we think we need an honest assessment of our home foundation needs."

"It is a very old storm door. He went his head away to fixed it with us. He went above and beyond what an ordinary person could do. We very much appreciate that. I would highly recommend his work to anyone."

"From the first contact to the day of installation the process was smooth and everyone involved was very professional. There were three appointments: 1. We had a consultation with one of their sales representative to go over their catalog, samplers and options. We liked the diversity of options they offer, but it can be a little overwhelming the amount of options they have. Their sales representative was very knowledgeable of their catalog and guided us to make some initial choices. We made an original estimation based on initial set of options to get an initial estimation, but we had at least one iteration after the appointment to revise them. 2. We had a second appointment for a second person to retake the measurements of the door and verify all the options. Once that was completed we placed the order to get the customized door 3. The day of the installation three more people came in and within half a day they got the new door installed Throughout all they gave us phone an email updates to know where things were in the process so we were never wondering what their status was. The final installed product looks great. A very much needed update to our old door"

"This was the largest remodeling job we ever undertook. We learned of Robinson and Son Construction by reviewing Angie's List and when we initiated contact, the owner, Elisha Robinson, came out the same day to discuss our job. After listening to our ideas and determining what we were trying to accomplish, Mr. Robinson recommended the location and size of an addition that would meet our needs. He also promised that once started, his crew would stay on our job until it was completed. We found Mr. Robinson to be very experienced, knowledgeable and honest. <br /> <br /> True to his word, his crew started the job when promised and worked here for about two months, until everything was completed. We can not say enough about his crew. They were hard workers, who were on time everyday and were very professional. We are extremely pleased with the quality of the work. If we had any questions or concerns the crew members were always willing to listen and provide an explanation, if possible. If the question pertained to something in the design, Mr. Robinson was always responsive. Our entire experience with this company was very positive. We would not hesitate to use them in the future and highly recommend them."

"We worked with both Cory and Darin on our project, and both of them understood our kitchen cabinet budget and worked within it. Compared to other providers, the product we purchased and had installed was in the same price range. Our cabinets, however, have a few more included features that were add-ons for other manufacturers whom we quoted. Cory was (and remains) very attentive to our needs. If you're looking to remodel or upgrade your kitchen, we recommend you visit Darin Fisher Designer Kitchens."

"I discovered that the original drainage system in the house had been installed incorrectly (they used <strong><em>unperforated</em></strong> pipe, so the water could not be collected).  Mid-Atlantic dug a trench in the basement floor and installed a new system.  They came back twice in the next few months to correct minor leaks and, as stated above, replaced a sump pump under warranty.  So far (for nearly seven years) the basement has remained dry. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Weirton, WV

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
