"Did a great job. The lawn came in beautifully. So nice to see grass again. They even killed a large patch of poison ivy that was growing."

"A very large oak tree was partially overhanging my house and had quite a lot of deadwood including largish branches high in the tree (after many years of neglect).  The company coordinated the work to coincide with a larger job being performed for a neighbor.  The work was completed professionally and in my opinion with good judgment about exactly what to prune, removing branches that were too close to the house and opening up the tree so that it looks better and is probably healthier.  All deadwood was removed.  An aluminum fence and a number of azaleas and other plants under the tree's spread were protected from any incidental damage.  The crew did a fine job of cleaning up debris.  They did more work than we had agreed to but there was no extra charge.  I recommend this service provider.

"It went really great! William and his team were very professional! I sent photos to get a ballpark estimate and the final price was very fair. I'm particularly happy because they were able to come out the very next day! I highly recommend Brahames Hauling and will use the again in the future!"

Small jobs welcome

"The five-month journey that we spent with Chris, Nicoleta, Nate, Elmer and all the team at GSB Builders has beaten any of our expectations and delivered a beautiful second-floor addition, which includes a master suite and office space. After a lot of hesitation, Chris, Nicoleta and Nate convinced us to take the step forward, captured our main ideas and proposed a design that has greatly improved, not only the space and appeal of our own house, but also the neighborhood. We really appreciated their listening to our ideas, down-to-earth and professional demeanor, and knowledge about all aspects of the construction which helped us overcome our initial fears ahead of an unknown journey. The construction was well executed by a professional team led by Elmer which was always friendly, tidy and respectful of the family’s privacy while workers had to enter the house. Their work ethic and professionalism is truly impressive. We valued the extreme responsiveness of Chris and Nicoleta during critical moments, such as during a thunderstorm which damaged part of the roof under construction. The GSB Builders team reacted swiftly to repair the parts damaged by the unexpected weather conditions, which avoided further damage to the house and major disruption in the family’s life. We truly appreciated Nicoleta’s design expertise and knowledgeable guidance on choosing bathroom fixtures, and her overall warm and approachable personality, which made this project also really fun. In fact, over the course of working together, we have come to appreciate each other deeply and have come to view Nicoleta and Chris as friends of the family. No major construction project is without bumps and stress along the road, and ours was no exception. What mattered is that we were always able to rely to the GSB team to do their best to rectify any problem and solidify our trust. We will continue working with the company on other projects in the future and will recommend their service to friends and family without any hesitation."

"Normal termite/pest inspection but the inspector was very knowledgeable and friendly. He did not try to up-sale me or make me feel I had to have their additional services. If I do buy additional services in the future it will be through them."

"Honey Cove took care of our lawn mowing and maintenance for the 2015 season!  They are great.  Professional, courteous and did a great job with our lawn and they also did another job installing new flower beds with white rock!  Everything was done so well and Brandon and his crew are so wonderful!  I am looking forward to the 2016 season with Honey Cove!

"The cost was like a quarter of what the previous contractor cost us. Our experience with them was great. They came in and said it would take three to five days; it took four. They came in. They finished. They were very polite and courteous. They cleaned up their mess. They did a really good job and in four day, they were gone. They did exactly what they were going to do for the price they said they were going to do it."

"This is the second time I've used Alvarado's. Both times they have come to give me estimates, they have arrived at the appointed time, they have given me copies of their license to work on trees and a copy of their liability insurance. None of the other companies that have given estimates have been nearly so forthcoming. Alvarado's price is competitive. Alvarado's crew came when promised and the crew did the work promised and cleaned up afterwards. When I have been there, the crews appear to be safety concious and they do a good job of making sure that they don't damage other property. I will gladly hire them again and recommend them for others."

FAQs for sod installation projects in Welcome, MD

Seeding costs less up front, but you’ll wait months—and sometimes a full season—for the grass to fill in. Sod costs more per square foot, yet it gives you an instant, usable lawn the day it’s installed and needs far less care during the first year.

If speed and early curb appeal matter, the higher sod price is often worth it; if you’re watching every dollar and don’t mind the wait, seed can still be a smart play.

Start by sketching your lawn and breaking it into rectangles or circles. Measure each section, multiply length by width, and then add all the sections together for the total square footage. Standard sod rolls are two feet by 1.5 feet, and one pallet covers 450 square feet.

Divide your total area by 450 to see how many pallets you need, then round up—extras come in handy for cutting around curves or mistakes. Still unsure? A local sod supplier or installer can confirm your math before you order.

Most sod grips the soil within 10 to 14 days. During that stretch, keep foot traffic to a minimum and mow only if the grass gets tall. After two weeks, the roots should be strong enough for light use, but wait six weeks before heavy play or frequent mowing. Giving the grass that short honeymoon helps it anchor firmly and sets the stage for a durable, healthy lawn.

Give your new lawn two full weeks before any foot traffic, then stick to light use only. Hold off on vigorous play, parties, or regular mowing until the six-week mark so the roots can dig deep. Keep watering on schedule and watch for any dry patches. A little patience now means stronger turf and fewer repairs later.

Keep an eye on color, moisture, and even growth. Fresh sod should stay uniformly green; brown spots or gaps hint at dry soil or poor contact. Water deeply at least once a day for the first week (more in hot weather) and back off gradually after the roots take. Avoid heavy foot traffic until the grass feels firmly anchored. Quick attention to trouble spots now prevents costly patches later.

Aim for spring or early fall when daytime temps hover between 55°F and 80°F. Mild weather and consistent moisture help the roots knit quickly. Laying sod in midsummer can stress the grass, while frozen winter soil blocks rooting altogether.

If you must install outside the ideal window, budget extra time for watering and tending to the turf. Choosing the right season makes the job easier and the lawn tougher.
