Small jobs welcome

"I hired Ramy and his team to help me build out some closets. He was very communicative and easy to work with. The team showed up on time, collaborated with me on the design, worked fast, were very respectful of the home the whole time, and cleaned up nicely. Highly recommend R Design for any contract work!"

Customers say: True professional

"Leo was very helpful and quick to respond. We’re happy with how our 2 bathrooms turned out. Project was completed within the time promised. Our only complaint is that the workers did not clean up very well. But overall, we’re satisfied and we’ll use them again. "

"Jeff does not pay any attention to detail. He built stairs leading up to my composite deck and did a horrible job of nailing the wood making my stairs look like they are filled with white holes. Instead of drilling to the surface so you have a nice smooth appearance. He drilled them way too far down exposing the composite material underneath the finished surface so it looked like a sea of white dots on my beautiful warm rosewood stairs. It still is horrible even though he eventually came back complaining to my husband he has never had to return to a job in 20 years!!. What a joke that remark is considering the job he did. He did raise some screws but then decided to add additional screws in the worst of all places 1 inch from my existing screws further making my stairs look horrible. He was only here to put screws in the empty holes that he originally missed and to raise all of the screws so the stairs looked smooth and uniform like my deck . He fixed some and then made others worse still leaving me with holes with no screws because he apparently misjudged where to drill and then removed them and just left holes in my composite decking material. when I pointed out in extreme frustration that he added screws misplaced in the center of my stairs 1 inch from the original screws and he should not have, it looked horrible, further ruining the appearance of my new stairs he suddenly grabbed his stuff and stormed off the job!! He had not finished adjusting the screws and still leaving me with multiple holes in my stairwell. Oh, I should also mention he gave me a price and I decided to hire him and told the other bidders that I had hired someone else. Then he called me back and said he priced the wood wrong and it would be another $500!!. I was quite shocked at this but I had already told the others I had picked someone and thought he sounded like he could do the job. So I accepted his explanation and still decided to hire him. I will say the design of the stairs he did follow well, but he ruined them with his finish work. The wood is now damaged in many places, my only choice is to repurchase everything and have the wood replaced. I was hoping to add photos so you could see his work but it appears that there is no way to do this."

FAQs for interior trim and decorative moldings repair projects in West Hills, CA

While the terms 'trim' and 'molding' are often used interchangeably, they serve different purposes in home design. Trim refers to materials installed at the junctions of walls, ceilings, and floors, providing a seamless and functional transition. Molding, on the other hand, is a decorative type of trim crafted specifically to enhance your interior's visual appeal. For personalized recommendations that match your home's style, consult a professional contractor.

Repairing or replacing trim throughout your entire home takes six hours. If you're focusing on just a single room or a small section, you can expect the project to take one to two hours to complete. The process includes removing the old trim, carefully measuring and cutting new pieces, and precisely installing them to achieve a polished and lasting result.

Selecting the right trim is key to enhancing your home's overall design. Common options include shoe molding, quarter-round, baseboards, crown molding, chair rails, and picture rails. The best choice depends on where you're installing it, your personal style preferences, and your budget. Consulting a knowledgeable contractor can help you find the perfect trim to elevate your interior's appearance.
