"Randy responded to my call on Christmas Eve that our well pump had gone out and we had no water. He was very professional and responsive. He offered to come out on Christmas morning to our house to assess and conduct repairs. We did not want to impose on his family's Christmas morning so we asked him to come out today (12/26). Randy arrived on time despite being located almost two hours away and was able to quickly assess and repair our well pump; best of all we had water again. His service was excellent and his price was fair. We would hire him again in a heart beat. If you need someone to come out and do work on your well this is the company to call."

"They came and put in a much better high speed pump that fits in the well and they put on a well hatch that's exposed now so that you can easily fix it. We had no water and they responded instantly. They came in and did the estimate and then the next day they came out with a crew with about 6 guys. They were digging up the well, one person was out there installing the well hatch and two people downstairs n our crawl space were there for the new pump situation and they were done that day because we were living without water. So their responsiveness was excellent, their people were extremely courteous and friendly and I think it was about $3800 to do all that."

"when tech showed up the dryer seemed to be working and heating however it did not when I called, seemed the heating element was cracked creating and off and on working condition. I went ahead to repair the problem by purchasing a new heating element. I was surprised however that the tech expected me to pay in full before he ordered the part and repaired the problem, but I did using my credit card knowing if there was a issue the credit card co. would have my back, The part was order and Alex fixed it as soon as it came in and was great"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"I called several plumbers in my area. Richard P Waltz answered and told me that their plumbers were all scheduled for the remainder of the working day, but could send one after 5 PM, though I would have to pay overtime. I agreed. But one of their plumbers finished up a call early and they sent him to me around 4 PM. He quickly diagnosed the problem as the rubber washer in the valve failing, due to age. With the help of the building property manager I got the water main to my area shut off and the plumber opened up the valve and replaced the washer, which broke apart as he took it out - he was absolutely right in his diagnosis. When I had the building water turned back on we found that I still had a leak from the faucet, but now we could shut off the water and the plumber found that the faucet itself had seals that had failed. But at that point I could do the work myself, so thanked him and he left. He'd spent only about 1/2 hour, and I paid the regular rate. Great service, excellent knowledge."

"In general, things went pretty well with TC Hafford. When we set appointments, they kept them, and the work was done pretty much as I expected. The principal issue was that the whole process took a great deal of time. <br /> We were having mild mold problems in our home due to moisture in the crawlspace. I found TC Hafford on line and got an estimate from them. The initial meeting was in the spring, and there were several steps to the process. Prior to Hafford's work, we had had all the old fiberglass batting removed, the space cleaned out, and the mold treated. Hafford's first step was install the moisture barrier (durable plastic sheeting) on the cement block walls and stone and dirt floor. That all took place reasonably promptly. <br /> Step two was the installation of the dehumidification equipment: a large dehumidifier and several small fans to move air from certain areas into the space where the dehumidifier is located. This was done over two or three sessions, but getting the last step attended to took several months, and wasn't completed until sometime in the fall. No particular harm was done by the delay, but it was a minor aggravation having to remind them of the need to do the work (which was usually prompted by them billing me and me telling them I wouldn't pay till the work was completed). <br /> Step three was blowing in the foam insulation, and this was delayed because Hafford's was in the process of acquiring their own equipment. This delayed the process by over a month, and didn't take place till mid-summer. Again, there was no harm done by the delay, but it meant that I had to keep checking to find out the status of the project. The foam layer is not as thick as I had anticipated, but the house felt warmer this winter. Also, the overall air quality seems much better, although we have not paid to have the mold levels rechecked. <br /> To their credit, Hafford found someone to remove an old oil tank at a very reasonable cost (this was an added step, since they were uncomfortable about covering up--which I appreciated), and they were open to dealing with my concerns about adequate air flow in the crawlspace. All the people I dealt with were very personable and courteous. I never had the sense that I was getting a run-around, it was just that things took longer than anyone expected. <br /> On the question, "Would I use them again?" I answered yes, because it seems like a company that is trying to do a good job. Over the time of my extended interactions, they were never impatient at my unwillingness to pay prior to completion of the final step, and they never offered flimsy excuses for why things were taking so long. Just the truth. They have a monopoly in this area, as far as I can tell, so I think the price was high, but we had no mold problems this winter, and the spider population has dropped in the bargain so there are fewer cobwebs in the crawlspace, so the product seems to deliver. The plastic sheeting is tough, but not really suitable for a space that has more than occasional traffic. We have an oil burner in the crawlspace, and that has made the white plastic pretty grimy, but it is cleanable. The other advantage to the white plastic is that even with minimal lighting the crawlspace is now much brighter, and much less dungeon-like. <br /> So I've given them a B, which in my view is Honors, but not High Honors. <br />"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in West-minot, ME

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
